1981-02-25 Parking Toll Approved.jpg
From it's opening in 1974 through the 1980 season, cars and buses parked free at Great Adventure. Great Adventure was unique within the Six Flags family and among most of the country's other major theme parks with its free parking. Starting with the 1981 season, the park began charging for parking and installed a toll-plaza for collecting the parking fee from guests continuing from the safari, as well as those only visiting the theme park.
