Overflow crowds came to Great Adventure May 18, 1981 when, the southern rock, Marshall Tucker Band performed at the park in the Great Arena.  Cars were backed up along 537 when the park closed its gates and attendance had reached 55,000.  Some guests who abandoned their cars along 537 and I-195, choosing to walk into the parking lot, returned to find their vehicles had been towed by local and State Police.
