The 1991 season kicked off with Great Adventure celebrating the 30th anniversary of the nation's first regional theme park, Six Flags Over Texas.  Anyone turning 30 years old in 1991 would receive free admission on opening day, in addition to active members of the armed forces serving in Operation Desert Storm.  Great Adventure celebrated the event by opening Adventure Rivers.
