GAcoaster
When Hurricane Harbor first opened it was billed as a "Tropical Oasis" with a backstory that made the park feel like you were taking a vacation on Gilligan's Island. Over the years many of the props which dotted Hurricane Harbor and extended the story of the park were victims of time and the elements. We would love to see some of these creative contraptions (and even things as basic as nautical elements) added throughout the park to enhance the theme. New landscaping and flower beds would really dress up certain areas as well.
GAcoaster
Hurricane Harbor needs some sprucing up, and restoring the original props would go a long way!
Coaster Justin
Yeah, yours does seem worn-out. I think the Shark at our Hurricane Harbor lost most of it’s teeth years ago. Our volcano looks terrible from most sides too.
29yrswithaGApass
All the original props in Hurricane Harbor were themed as contraptions designed by the island’s fictional inhabitants the Bada Bings. I wonder if the risqué bar in the HBO series the Sopranos also named the Bada Bing had a role in downplaying the park’s further use of these never seen characters (especially in NJ)? In any case, reintroducing these types of props and stepping up the landscaping parkwide would be a huge plus.
ericthewanderer
Maybe SF could refresh the old waterparks all at once, but each region would get different styles of props:the northeast parks(SFA,Great Adv.,SFNE) get tiki-style makeovers, the mid-west parks like Great Am. &SFSTL get Carribean style do-overs,etc.Doing the makeovers at once or close together should be cheaper(from buying all the paint, thatch roofing, etc. in bulk). The Master
Some of the props were also removed for pathway changes like the Bada Bing juice still which was removed for the the bridge to the mat racers. Guess they decided it was not worthwhile to relocate. Something that could help with the theming is plant some cold hardy semi tropical plants around, such as Musa Basjoo Banana plants. One of mine grew to 12 feet tall by the end of Summer. There are also Needle Plams which they have a few of in GK. They already have a few Joshua Trees which are often used as false plams, plant a few more of them around, etc. Edited December 28, 2018 by The Master
