it's sad to hear the parachutes are being scrapped in the offseason. The skyline won't be the same without it.

This is interesting, hopefully it actually works without issues! (It won't)

Weird place to put it considering you would walk through a garden to see the letters, but I guess they made it work.

Frontier Adventures and Plaza Del Carnival are both said to get refurbishments to their areas before they open in the summer. What do you all think these refurbishments will be?

According to the park…
As you know, the safety of our guests and team members is our top priority. Due to our advanced preparedness, including securing our buildings and loose items, the park sustained minimal damage. All of our animals were safely secured prior to the storm, and all are doing well. The park will be open, as planned, daily April 5 – 16 for our annual Spring Break.
This is great! Glad everyone is okay.

I don't know the specifics, but apparently debris is scattered around the entire park, a sign fell over (I can't remember which one unfortunately), and parks in between Jersey Devil and Skull Mountain were severely damaged. Hopefully everything is better by the time the park opens!

The park is lopsided in regards to flats and smaller rights. The majority of flat rides are in the southern half of the park while the northern half is pretty sparce on flat rides. This isn't helped by the fact that many of the rides in the northern half of the park have really long walks for single rides, Green Lantern, Superman, Kingda Ka, El Toro, especially the drop tower, and Medusa all have overly long walks with no other attractions nearby. Many of the park sections in the northern half only feature one to two operating attractions.
In Frontier Adventures it would be nice if the derelict and ill placed safari station was removed and replaced with western themed flats. The north side of the park has a larger number of derelict or SBNO attractions which has increased this season. You have the old sim theater, the GK theater, the GK water playground, the aformentioned safari station, the Northern Arena, etc, all standing SBNO. Moreover, the park really messed up the pathways and traffic flow around the lakeside of Frontier Adventures. Last year, the park closed off its northern half even before Halloween! It has befome a pretty neglected side of the park.
That's what i'm saying. I think the northern side could use more flats. It's not spaced as well as the Southern side is.

Looks like the rumor of Nitro getting a new name & color scheme was bogus. Hopefully, there's a chance for a new paint job later on, but keeping the original colors
I wouldn't say it's fully bogus, because i'm pretty sure they planned it, then people caught onto it, and were upset about Nitro getting rethemed to something so generic as Goliath. I still think it'll get the color scheme it was planned as it got a new train with a completely different color scheme this year, but it'll probably still keep the Nitro name.

This one is such a weird ride, a lot of people I know didn't even know it was at the park at all, and it operated for 7 years. I personally never got to ride it because most of the time my luck was horrible with the ride being open, but I have seen it in operation before.

Any idea what the limited use of Best of the West is all about? I fear we may soon be losing another major park icon as a result of a lack of preventive maintenance and the building's internal hardware, mainly the HVAC system that it shared with the Super TeePee. The roof of the building always had significant leaking issues, but I know the installation of the metal roof resolved much of that problem. At this point, I'm assuming the logs themselves are starting to pose a problem nearly 50 years later, in much the same way that the TeePee's logs became an issue. I'm also just guessing that traffic flow in that area of the park is greatly diminished and doesn't warrant the labor costs associated with a restaurant of that size.
I only went a few times last year, but in 2021 I went a ton and it was open every single time I went. Pretty certain the use of it has lowered, but I hope it'll be refurbished instead of torn down. It's truly an icon at SFGAV and deserves to stay for the 50th.

Notable changes from last year:
- Parachute Training Center: Edwards AFB removed.
- My Six Flags Photos and all on-ride photos removed
- Memberabilia renamed WalkWay Shop
- Six Below replaces Rita's by Batman The Ride
- Oasis Snacks (Jr Thrillseekers) and Looney Tunes Camp Kitchen (BBNP) both now IBCCES Certified Autism Centers
- Six Below, Chop Six Express, and Boardwalk Tap House added to Boardwalk
- Best of the West not listed (events only)
- Arboretum (Tree Garden) added to Autobahn site
Does this mean best of the west is gone? Or is it only going to be used for specific events now?

The whole park needs fresh pavement, fresh paint, fresh plantings-- just a general "glow up" like was in progress 15+ years ago under Premier, and 30 years ago under Time Warner.
As for balance, I think overall it's pretty good:
Log Flume, RMT, Medusa, El Toro, Ka on one side
Big Wheel, BTR, Nitro, Jersey Devil, Wonder Woman on the other
Quality of life would be nice, and would enhance the park's overall appearance a lot.

I got a great chuckle out of the idea of the "frontier" being "outdated". That's kind of the point. It's not outdated, it's neglected, like most of the park. Best of the West is closed, the Safari is closed, the arena is closed, and the second coaster in the area has once again been inappropriately themed to intentionally not fit in the theme of the area.
i get what you are saying, and what i'm trying to says is I think expanding on the outdated rustic western theme would be great, and that area shouldn't be neglected as much as it is.

this is actually awesome, I need to try this next time

The far left side of the park needs a lot of love, as Frontier Adventure is REALLY outdated. I love the rides there and it's such a nostalgia trip, but i'm sure i'm not the only one who agrees they need some sort of update to the area. Plaza Del Carnival is alright too, but it's existence has felt meaningless without El Toro being present. I think the next few additions other than next year (will probably replace the Parachutes) should be on the left side to improve the quality of those areas.

In your opinion:
(1) What is/was Great Adventure's most over-rated ride ever?
(2) What is/was Great Adventure's most under-rated ride ever?
I'll do one for rides and coasters, i'll do coasters first
For Over-Rated coaster, i'm going to say Kingda Ka, it didn't age as well as TTD (RIP) and has gotten fairly rough on my past rides. I don't think it's a bad ride, but I think it is highly overrated.
For Under-Rated coaster, this one is a hard one, but I might have to go with Medusa. I don't see a lot of enthusiasts giving it lots of attention and it mostly seems like the only time it's brought up is literally just to mention that it was the first floorless coaster.
For Over-Rated ride, I'm gonna go more recent and say Justice League. I like the shooter game, but the line always seems too long for what isn't worth the wait. Also, for every time i've ridden it, there is almost a 50% chance the ride breaks down and closes before I even get on.For Under-Rated ride, this one is obvious for me, I have had more fun on Deja Vu that I probably should have. Something about it really screams "charming fair ride" and I really enjoy that.

Simulator Theater - they should have never gutted the building before having its replacement signed, sealed, and delivered. It was a scrapped for nothing.
I still don't get why they did this. The building sits there for seemingly no reason nowadays other than hosting a haunted maze. It seemed perfectly fine and at the point it closed, it's theme didn't tie in with the Scream Machine, so if the plan was to remove it along side the Scream Machine, that wouldn't any sense. Just seemed like it was scrapped for seemingly no reason.

Pirate's Flight (and most of the War on Lines rides which were removed)
I definitely agree with this. Pirate's Flight looked like it could be the longest running War On Lines ride at it's opening and it was relocated for seemingly no reason. The spot it was in was alright, and possibly could still fit somewhere else in the park. Relocating it to Six Flags Ohio was confusing.
-
It can be something small that could've been prevented, or something that you believe should still be here today but was removed for seemingly no reason.
-
It was very unfortunate when I heard that the Parachutes were closing- luckily I got to see it's final day on January 1st, where I saw it run only once, and never again. It truly was a staple at the park, and I hope they don't scrap the structure. I feel like it would really ruin the park's skyline if they got rid of the structure entirely.
-
For every ride you reintroduce, you must REPLACE that ride. For example, if I want to bring back Spin Meister, i'd have to get ride of something that fit's the ride's footprint. So i'd axe Cyborg Cyber Spin to bring back Spin Meister, and so on.
-
If the removal of the Parachutes is confirmed when the park opens on opening day, this most likely means Twister's days are numbered too, as plans for expansion would not be able to go into fruition if only that was removed, as the Parachutes do not take up a large part of the park. Also, would this mean that Great American Road Race would be removed as well?

I know a few such as Condor and Pendulum being at SFGA, Rodeo Stampede being at SFOT, Sarajevo Bobsled being at the Great Escape, and one of the loops on Lightnin' Loops being at Frontier City. Any others I missed?
