  1. I barely check out the forums for a bit and this was a late post, but as soon as I read news of Harry's passing, I felt like my heart sank. Harry's knowledge about Great Adventure seriously cannot be outdone! I remember going on GAH as a long-time lurker since the park's 40th back in 2014 learning about how rides and costumed entertainers have changed over the course of its history. Even when I went to lurk at the forums, I see former employees posting their past experiences! Alas, his adventure will continue onward with spirit (meaning us) and he will be missed by many.

Having done retail in parks I can tell you going cashless just makes sense. No tills to have to worry about guests or employees stealing from, no having to count drawers when guests claim to have been short changed, no having to worry about cashiers who have no clue how to make change. The SeaWorld parks are converting to cashless as well and offering cash to card conversion kiosks.

Going cashless also means people don't really think about how much they're spending. That's part of the idea Disney had when they introduced Magic Bands. Tap your band and it's just "magic" so you don't think about how much you spent until the bills come.

While this is true, there's probably going to be some cybersecurity concerns with electronic payments by card (Any potential "bad seed" within corporate or any other place could grab ahold of the information). With that in mind, I have yet to see it play out in person.

  3. If I were to plan the 50th Anniversary season, I can definitely see the following:

    - The return of the Great Adventure History Museum

    - A 50th anniversary fireworks display every Friday

    - A private 50th Anniversary dinner party with park employees past and present

    - Street characters of the past returning for limited photo-ops, or a show at the Northern Star Arena, that is, if any past employees have the costumes in storage and were granted permission by corporate

    - The legendary removal of the paintball building that obscures Dream Street

    - Banners hanging around Dream Street displaying the original name of the Great Adventure park (Enchanted Forest)

    - Touch-ups of the Patrina Williams ex-Steam Gallopers, including the restoration of the colorful floor and the LED rewiring and restoration of the horseshoe plaques.

  4. Hey, guys!

I'm Dan, a 22-year old aspiring thoosie from NYC. Been a lurker on this site since 2014. The earliest memories I can recall of Six Flags Great Adventure (and the Six Flags Entertainment Corporation as a whole) was the 2004-05 "It's Playtime!" advertising campaign featuring everyone's favorite crazy dancing old man Mr. Six. I have not really gone into a Six Flags park at that period, but it really shows that I was continuing to show interest in going to a major thrill park one day. I had gone to Playland in Rye, Luna Park in Coney, and also WDW in Orlando before then, but that day had arrived sometime in Summer 2014 during the 40th anniversary of Great Adventure, where me and broski had a day out riding Nitro, Superman Ultimate Flight, Kingda Ka (I mean what else??). It's a shame that I didn't get to experience the GAH Museum when it was opened, yet I have high hopes that it may return during the Golden Anniversary season next year... I also went to Great Adventure in two back-to-back seasons in 2016 (End-of-year High School Trip) and 2017 (again, with broski, bringing his then-new girlfriend and our cousin). 5540FD54-9745-4BDB-8F0E-EDC7E9135983.jpg
