  1. Like some of the people here, I have mixed emotions about this news. Rolling Thunder was a great coaster for kids but as my kids got older they couldn't fit in the seats. As for me the ride was way to rough and became painful to me. So I'm sorry to see it go but it was just not enjoyable anymore. Perhaps in the near future they can add another woodie that sit in the Batman Arena area. Now as for the drop tower, hell yeah i'm excited for it. I miss Freefall so this fits the bill nicely.

  2. That was fun to see. Except the 1977 Brochure's cover is just plain creepy to me. The reindeer-rainbow wearing "funky" disco clown's dead eyes and gaped mouth. The jug headed, ice cream drooling kid who seems oblivious to the stains he's creating on his cotton blend shirt. I know they're artist renderings of actual photos in the 'chure, but wow how did they think that was a good idea?!

  3. Well I just posted about the Congo Rapids dilemma so I won't rehash it here. I would like assigned seating just for because we get that herd mentality and we need guidance. It would suck for some us who have a preference for a particular section or seat but I believe we our outnumbered. I can sacrifice that if it means not getting stuck behind some summer-sun ripened guests clogging up the ride station enterance.

    Happy GA-dventuring!

  4. I was at the park this past weekend and it seems everytime I ride Congo Rapids there is always confusion about the queue line. Where it splits into two there is no sign saying the right side IS a 2nd sign. People just don't figure it out and us people in the know who are way behind start yelling about looking like themepark lunatics! Sometimes I just give up and wait till I get to that point where it splits and I skip merrily down the right sided queue line. So on my holiday wish list for GA I am starting early and wishing they add a sign (or a clearer one) telling guests they can go to the right!

    Happy GA-venturing, Ben

  5. Man I miss this ride. It was my substitute ride for Magic Mountain's Revolution when I moved to Jersey many years ago. My daughter has learned to love it so we'll be going this Sunday to pay our respects. I've been on one standup coaster before (again at Magic Mountain) and thought it was ok. Hopefully Chang has improved on that.

  6. I think with all the excitement of the GA book, Six Flags should add a park history museum like they have over at Magic Mountain. All these wonderful photos could be displayed (they already use them in the wallpaper at the shops). Grab some of those old ride cars from the bone yard and have them out for people to see. They can pose in them like the bumpercars over the Exploratorium. If they still have the old costumes from the park's previous mascots they can be displayed. They can use an already pre-existing building for this. Just not sure what location this would be at in the park.

P.S. Is it just me or do you feel a little sadness when you are over getting on Nitro or the rapids and you look over the fence and see the boneyard. The rides just sit there with they're former glory decaying. A park history museum would be a great way to honor these former rides that were once part of a great amusement park.

  7. Thank you guys so much for the signing today (Barnes & Noble, Hamilton). Meeting you guys was a thrill for my daughter and I. I just started reading my copy and I can't wait to finish. Since moving to New Jersey 15 years ago and adopting Great Adventure as my "homepark" it has been place of fun and enjoyment for my family. This book helps fuel my sense of awe of amusement parks and Great Adventure. Again thank you.

  8. Put on your gruesome humor hat......I always thought that a great addition to the United Kingdom in Epcot's World Showcase would be Princess Di's Wild Ride. It would be "an exciting high speed journey through the Chunnel" over to the France pavilion. Watch out for the paparazzi!

That is so wrong!!!! I can't stop laughing.......but it's so wrong though!

  9. Steel Pier in Atlantic City was a big let down. I've never been to a seaside amusement park so I have nothing to compare it to but it was an irritating place. I was there this pat weekend. Some of the rides had some bad recordings encouraging you to scream. The employees looked like they would rather be eat cat litter then smile. None the less my daughter had a good time and thats what really counts. Still I read about it's lustrous history so the current Steel Pier has a lot to live up to. :Rainbowsmiley2:

  10. So will these awards be done on a yearly basis or every few years? I'd like to see it done at least every 2-3 years to let enough change happen so there can be new winners and/or new catagories.

I am so looking forward to GA this year.

Hey the Big TeePee and the other flat rides that have been removed should have been in the In Memorium video.....that TeePee will sorely missed. The skyline at GA will never be the same again.
