Took my wife and daughter to Knoebels on Thursday Aug 17th and 18th and decided to camp there. We have not been to the park in 10 years and now regretted it.
Arrived at the park at 11am, went to the campground and since our spot was available we decided to set up 1st.
Hit the park at 12:15pm, stopped by Twister on the way to the office and walked one the 1st row. Much better ride than I remembered.
Next went to the office to get my $20 of free coupons because I am a disabled Vet. Then they suggested I could get an access pass so I did. That was well worth it. Basically you go up the exit side and they let you right on, You can even ride 2 times in a row.
To make things, I will list the rides that we rode (my wife only did Haunted Mansion, the Train and Black Diamond)
Impulse
Power Surge
Pioneer Train
Kosmo's Kurves
Haunted Mansion
Black Diamond
Flying Turns
Phoenix (twice)
All coasters we rode were in front row except for Phoenix which we rode in the front and back
By now it was only 2:45 and went back to the camp site to rest and eat.
Went back to the park around 7pm and basically did the entire cycle again adding a trip on the Scenic Skyway and Log Flume.
It was a great day and relaxing at the same time.
Got back to the campground by 10pm, started the campfire but my wife and daughter ending up going to bed by 11pm.
I knew it was going to rain so I put everything I could in the truck and covered the tent (which is 14x14) with a tarp
And it rained!!! a lot!!!
By the morning it stopped but everything was wet. We heard the weather report was going to be on and off rain so we decided to pack up and leave the truck at the campground while we went back to the park. We paid for the second night but since my daughter and I were going to Virginia on Saturday we thought it would be better to leave the park on Friday.
Arrived at the park at 10:30 to eat breakfast and after that my daughter and I decided to hit all the coasters again
Flying Turns
Impulse
Haunted Mansion
Black Diamond
Phoenix
Log Flume.
By now its only 12:15pm and it started to rain so we decided just to go home (2 1/2 hour drive).
I love this park. Food was great and inexpensive. The park was more crowded than I would have guessed being it was Thursday but we were lucky with the access pass. Lines were long. I could do it every year but while my daughter and I love to camp my wife hates it.
Might even to try to get back this October since it was so fun.
Next up... Carowinds and the Solar Eclipse...
