29yrswithaGApass
Cedar Fair has decided to sell Great Adventure's Pirate's Flight (last seen at Geauga Lake) instead of reinstall it in another Cedar Fair park. See the used ride ad here.
GAcoaster
What a shame...it should never have been moved out to begin with.

The Master
GAdv should buy it back, it is a nice family ride which the park is lacking in. Edited January 24, 2008 by The Master
29yrswithaGApass
The Sky Ships ride on Mariner's Landing Pier in Wildwood is an outdoor Peter Pan's Flight style ride the encircles their water park. It uses the same Zamperla ships featured on Pirate's Flight. This would make a really relaxing family ride if it were added to the Lake Front or Looney Tunes Seaport sections of the park. GAcoaster
Unfortunately they'd have to add a steel cage around it at GA to keep people from being stupid.
JetsDevs4Lyf
This is true but it would be a nice little addition. to the park. You are right about having to avoid people being stupid though. So many thoughtless persons in the park sometimes. If they brought a show back to the Lake Front Theatre they could have the ride swing by the side of the theatre to give a different perspective on things for people riding the boats. It's a thought at least.

Lap bars are also a possibility, even though they aren't fool(ish people)-proof.
GAcoaster
Interesting-- the same boats are also offered by Zamperla for their Regatta ride (Jolly Roger):

I like that ride too, the Seagull ride next to it is lame.
29yrswithaGApass
I agree. You need to pedal really fast to make that one exciting. It is a great ride to work on your tan!
JetsDevs4Lyf
I actualy like the seagul ride but I thinik that is because it lets me pull the handbrake to annoy my gf while we are riding it and she is peddling away lol. The Master
Anyone remember when the Seagull ride used to have water guns mounted in the cars? Edited February 16, 2008 by The Master
29yrswithaGApass
I think I must have missed the water gun seasons but it sounds like fun especially with the guests in the waterpark below. The common support beams of the ships and the seagulls is very cost and space effective. One thing the Morey's have seemed to master is the use of space! The Master
They only had guns for their first season, they were rigged so you could only fire them in certain areas. Also one person was the gunner why the other had to pump the water gun! There were also ground guns to shoot back at them but thats all gone now. Railer
Does anyone know where it is now? I see that it was up for sale, was it puchased? Just wondering for Pirate Day!!!
29yrswithaGApass
The following SFWoA Online photos feature Pirate's Flight after it was relocated from Great Adventure and prior to being assembled at Six Flags World of Adventure. 29yrswithaGApass
I've added a video of Pirate's Flight during its last season at Geauga Lake. The ride seems to spin much slower when you compare it to the video from when it was at Great Adventure.
29yrswithaGApass
Here is a really nice shot of Pirate's Flight thanks to a fan of our site at Zamperla!
GAcoaster
That's the one ride we got that I wish hadn't been sent away. All the others were either easily replaceable or things that never worked right, but Pirate's Flight was a great FAMILY ride!

29yrswithaGApass
I think it would have been a much smarter move if Pirate's Flight had been installed on the current site of Jolly Roger (and Jolly Roger built were Pirate's Flight was installed). That way two swings rides wouldn't have been situated back to back.
29yrswithaGApass
From our friends at Zamperla, below is an advertisement for the "Galleon Race 12"... better known at Great Adventure as Pirate's Flight!
