truepolak90
I love space shuttle but I have a feeling it doesn't have much more time. I always practically walk on, i've had yet to see it use the switchbacks.
Great Adventurer
I've never gone on it, but i feel I'm doing myself a bit of a disservice if I put it off much longer.
JetsDevs4Lyf
I know I have heard that this may not be in our park much longer. I hope that is not true as it would be a shame to lose the starship.
29yrswithaGApass
For some reason I really like this ride. It could be becasue it was the "new attraction" when I started working at the park. I always try to ride this style of ride at parks I visit but there are fewer and fewer of them. Busch Gardens Tampa's seems to take forever to load the ride.
JetsDevs4Lyf
In all honesty I have only ridden this and others like it about a dozen times, but you just don't see many of them popping up anymore. I can remember this ride as always being in the park since I remember it, so it just seems like something I would absolutely notice if gone, even without being a faithful rider. I can say, however that I have ridden it more the past few season than I ever did when I was younger.
d a n n y
Is this the one near Superman? I hate this ride, it hurts me so much.
29yrswithaGApass
That' the one. It does hurt - but no pain no ride!
The Master
Even though I have been going to the park for many years I rode Looping Starship for the first time last year. For years I was afraid it would make me sick (which rarely happens to me), but it is not sickening at all but the bars do hurt. I can still remember seeing it where Chiller used to be and GAdv should keep it since they don't have many flats now.
29yrswithaGApass
Those who dislike the Buccaneer seem to avoid the Space Shuttle because they fear the "sensation" experienced on the Buccaneer must be far greater on Space Shuttle. The slower swing speed and inversions couldn't make for a far more different ride.
JetsDevs4Lyf
I think that was my problem for so many years. The Buccaneer was a ride that just never went well for me so I just didn not want to be in any swinging ride regardless of loops or not. The Master
I love the Buccaneer but it is hard to get a end row which are the best. Is it me or does it seem the Buccaneer does not swing as high as it used to?
redsoxfan0810
It should be staying at least this year, Phil's last update showed it and everything around it was completely untouched.
JetsDevs4Lyf
That I noticed, but I had also heard rumors to the contrary so considering how quickly things change for better or worse at the park sometimes I was not sure if I had missed some news on the ride. I sure do hope to see it up and running come April.
29yrswithaGApass
It's not your imagination! In its early years the Buccaneer boat use to rock until the end of the ship was about six feet above the upper edge on the ends of the platform. Today the boat doesn't pass the edge of the platform. JetsDevs4Lyf
That is certianly a major change to say the least
The Master
Why did they change how far it swings up? Was it for safety?
29yrswithaGApass
It seems that almost all the flats were slowed or the ride cycle reduced at some point- even the Carousel. A lot of the changes occurred in 1988 after the park did a site-wide review of all their rides and safety procedures. I am sure the park's insurance company also had a say in the decision. JetsDevs4Lyf
Well I mean with people being lawsuit happy about almost everything these days, I can't really blame the park for taming things down a little bit. And you are absolutely right the insurance company had a say in it I'm sure.
The Master
Yeb that's what I figured what probably happened but still it is a shame they had to tone it down. Insurance rates are insane in NJ.
redsoxfan0810
Rides getting toned down everywhere can get pretty annoying! Top Spins and Swinging Ships get the shaft a lot, and of course coasters that get trimmed down.
JetsDevs4Lyf
They definately are, and in all honesty it really is a shame that so much of our lives are run by run by companies who get paid to do everything they can not to provide services. It really is sickening at times.
redsoxfan0810
You can understand why they have to slow coasters for safety and/or maintenance reasons, but why run lame top spin programs? I'm not sure how GAdv's is, but Twister at SFNE has been running programs that flip once, if at all! The purpose is to thrill and flip you end-over end, it's a Top SPIN not a Top rotating sightseeing gondola!
JetsDevs4Lyf
Who really knows anymore. We can all hope though that if and when some new flats are added there are enough safety functions on them alreaqdy that they don't need to be toned down. Some of the rides really do suffer significantly from it.
