J4Sing
Why do you say the LS is out? The entire ride is intact in this photo and the guys with the crane are working on the Scream Machine's pretzel. Edited: Oh wait, the counterweight is gone. S@#$! 29yrswithaGApass
Neutered it looks like a space themed Buccaneer!
JetsDevs4Lyf
OH well we all knew it was coming unfortunately. Hopefully it's at least gone by opening day so that its deconstruction is not all up in our grill lol.
CoasterPete
This one upsets me but I can't say I blame them for taking it out. I always enjoyed the Looping Starship ever since I first chickened out back when I first visited the park some 18 years ago. Haha Pete
The Master
I am glad I rode it last year, it is such a shame that GAdv is removing so many rides in recent years.

JetsDevs4Lyf
Has the ride been put up for sale by the company at all now that it is officially coming down or is it likely headed to another SF park or the boneyard?
29yrswithaGApass
My guess would be the boneyard. If I am not mistaken the only one left in the chain is now Six Flags Over Texas' Acme Rock-n-Rocket. My favorite feature of ours was how the shuttle's wings went under the cantilever loading dock. JetsDevs4Lyf
I honestly never would have noticed that had it not been pointed out there. If the ride heads off to the boneyard, who knows what might eventually might happen with it. I would at least like to see the ride placed somewhere else since it has been such a classic ride. J4Sing
I always loved the looping starship and am sad to see it go just months before my first GA visit in 15 years. I'll never forget the first time I rode it, and my buddy sitting next to me was freaking out and the veins on his temples looked like they were going to burst out of his skull. I'll be visiting the park in June with the same buddies, kind of like a reunion because we always went to GA together. To compensate, however, there is the Kingda Ka, which I am sure will finally do the old fellow in. We're all doomed when we get on that thing. Can't wait! 29yrswithaGApass
^ The place has changed in 15 years! I'm sure you'll have a great time! We have been pretty fortunate with our Looping Starship ride. It has been in operation the longest out of all the other Six Flags parks. All the other models in the system were rotated about, some several times, and all (less one) ultimately removed years prior to ours. Six Flags Over Georgia added the Looping Starship the same year as GA then removed it, only to add the same type of ride back several years later, and then remove it again for construction of Goliath. Even though ours was relocated to another area of the park for 1997, we've been lucky to have it for 23 seasons.
29yrswithaGApass
As seen on Screamscape: That didn't take long.......
JetsDevs4Lyf
Holy Cow. Talk about a ride that is apparentyl easy to dismantle. I don't think I've seen a ride come down faster than that even in a carnival setting lol. I guess we don't have to worry about any construction on that one going on during the season lol
CoasterPete
As I think someone has already stated somewhere, this really opens up some new views of GASM's boomerang! It'll be interested to see how they landscape the area but knowing GA's team I'm sure it'll look great when done. Pete
The Master
Sad to see that it is now gone.
JetsDevs4Lyf
Probably would be more depressing if they had waited until well into the season to do it then you would really get the before and after feel for sure.
29yrswithaGApass
The Looping Starship's long run at Great Adventure has come to an end. The ride has been scrapped instead of relocated to the boneyard or another park. Additional opening day photos can be seen in the Gallery (Click Here). The ride sign less miniature space shuttle model. The abandoned ride station: Parts of the ride including the wings:
JetsDevs4Lyf
The scream machine was one of our first stops of the day (after processing and Fly Me To The Moon) and it was odd to see the Starship completely gone. I was however, surprised to see that the platform was still there only because with the ride gone for so long now I would have thought that would be gone too. 29yrswithaGApass
Just added! Click on the image below to see a video of the Looping Starship in operation at its original location next to the Musik Express.
JetsDevs4Lyf
I know this is an odd sudden thought, but has the park done anything in this offseason to remove the starship platforms which still stood for the 2008 season, or is that little bit of history still over there? gafreak
i noticed that all of the looping starships q and op booth and base and all electrical motors are still in place do you think we could see it return after a major over haul? Mike13
i noticed that all of the looping starships q and op booth and base and all electrical motors are still in place do you think we could see it return after a major over haul? Probably won't come back, they are probably just being cheap and lazy and only removing the ride part.
29yrswithaGApass
..... do you think we could see it return after a major overhaul? Nope, the ride including the shuttle itself were scapped.
CoasterPrince
I hope to see a Zamperla Hawk 28 or greater occupy this spot. Perfect spot and would be a sight to see.
29yrswithaGApass
I think we can assume that if the GASM does end up being removed that what now remains of the Looping Starship will also be leveled.
