dougdrummer
It was supposed to go through an underwater tunnel but it would've been too expensive to do so. It wasn't until 1991 when Anaconda at kings Dominion opened as the first coaster with an underground tunnel. It was probably more a schedule issue than cost one. The park was struggling to get as much open as possible by July 1. Apparently much of that area was not finished by opening day, and people had to walk through construction zones to get to the open theater for shows.
