GAcoaster
Our wish for day 14 is refurbish Congo Rapids to include geysers, waterfalls, and themed elements.
SFGadv123
I've always wanted this. I miss back when it had waterfalls, they need to at least bring that back. Some other effects would be cool too.
rescueshrek
I would think a waterfall that goes over the entire river, to make sure that everyone on the ride would get soaked, would be awesome
RC98
^ That would be great! Right now the only thing that gets me wet on it is the sprayer at the end, more water elements would add measurably to the ride experience. Right now, my favorite rapids ride is Thunder Canyon at Dorney Park with all its waterfalls, anything to bring it closer to that level would be awesome! I agree that that is a good one. Hershey Park used to have one with waterfalls that got you soaked, but they sadly removed it, to expand the boardwalk. Some of the boats are used for the raging rapids in Kennywood.
Coaster Justin
Ideally, I'd like to see it get re-themed into Penguin's Blizzard River since It's so close to Movie Town and get a ton of water effects.
The Master
I rather not see overhead waterfalls added. Fixing the existing waterfalls would be nice and even plant some cold hardy tropical plants around, and get rid of the poison ivy.
jonlee
The last time i went on congo rapids, i hardly got wet! the people across from us got soaked! The only way to get wet was from water splashing over the side. This was a few tears ago though. The rapids at disney's animal kingdom or at Universals island of adventure had a plastic covered storage bin where you can put things to keep dry. Coaster Justin
How does it compare to Roman Rapids at BGW cause that was mediocre at best?
jonlee
Of all the rapids i've been on, this one is the worst.
29yrswithaGApass
Between our Rapids being one of the first built (currently the world's oldest) and a lot of the features disappearing over the years (geysers, waterfalls, etc) it is pretty bare bones. Sometimes it seems more like a casual boat ride than an exciting rapids ride.
RC98
^ I have to agree with that- the other two I have been on (Dorney and Disney Animal Kingdom) were both superior, especially Dorney's.
jonlee
i think the popeye one at island of adventure has this long stretch of heavy rapids and you go pretty fast too!
DANofNJ
SFGadv is notorious for taking features out and not replacing them or fixing them. just look what they did to batman the ride. no cop car, no Alfred in the station. to go even farther back, I remember GASM had blinking lights in the station like the first year, and were gone the next year.
