Nitro1118
Nice pics!!! It's weird seeing the Main St area so bare. Do you know when the fences were added to the fountain? Looking at the pics I thought something about it looked empty, and that was it.
29yrswithaGApass
That is the park's original fountain which had a railing added in 1986. The entire fountain was downsized and replaced in 1994. You can read all about it HERE.
Viper26
Those fences by the final hill on the Mine Train are better than they are now because you can see the train go over the hill. Nowadays, the fence blocks the view from the entrance to the coaster.

You can read all about it HERE. Oh wow I never even knew this was the 2nd generation of the fountain! I always assumed the current one was the original. Thanks for the spotlight! Yoshi
The last picture of Runaway Mine Train without any other coasters in the picture is interesting since I am so used to seeing Kingda Ka and El Toro in that view or at least Rolling Thunder before the other 2 coasters were built. jdc12192
Its crazy how undeveloped the park was back then. Theres so many trees(and still are compared to other parks) but now there are just a bunch of coasters towering over them.
Viper26
I wonder how the environmentalists against the solar farm would react seeing the park have way more trees and forested land in 1977 compared to 2015 where many trees are replaced by dominating attractions. Yankees99
Wow! I don't even know where to begin, but I'm deeply touched by this retro trip. Whoever took these photos nailed it to a tee. What a special time indeed for what was a great season of 1977. Please keep these retro trips coming, especially if you have any from the first 10 years of the park's existence.
