Time Warner Era Movie Tie-In Attractions

Recommended Posts

While Time Warner owned Six Flags in the 90’s they were looking create “synergy” between the parks and their movies/TV shows/magazines/music/etc. After success with Batman: The Ride, The Right Stuff, and other attractions which were connected to hit films they looked to other movies like The Unforgiven and Contact to create tie in attractions. Viper was originally intended to be “The Unforgiven”, and there was work to develop an attraction based on the movie Contact based on “The Machine” built based on plans sent to Earth by extraterrestrials.

The other day concept art of an Intamin ride which was never built was posted to the Rare and Obscure Amusement Rides group from 1991 of a ride which was never built, but obviously could have been the basis for a Contact attraction. The huge ring design looks quite similar to “The Machine”. What do you think? Missed opportunity, or dodged a bullet on the ride not being built?

They should’ve built the boat ride from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory as an indoor ride opposite the carousel and Yum Yum Palace.

you meant where the ga cafe, cold stone and the lethal weapon stunt arena is

Also, Skull Mountain was supposed to be a Gremlins themed coaster.

As for the Contact ride, it would've been like Chiller in the sense that the ride is WAY better than the movie it's themed too.

i wonder if most Six Flags parks (expect for Six flags over texas) will get the Warner bros name like Paramount did to the Pings park

imagine instead of Golden kingdom we got Monster island from the 2014 Godzilla film or Boardwalk becomes Warner bros action zone or Movietown be rethemed to the DCEU

Please write in sentences with proper sentence structure, capitalization, and punctuation.  It would make it easier for all of us.

Well, people do think Cyborg Cyber Spin looks like the machine. But I doubt anyone would remember Contact by 2018, so chances are it'd stay Cyborg, harry2004.

OR, the Contact attraction could open in the 90s, and in 2018 it could be rethemed to Cyborg.

I wish Moloko stopped at GAdv and the other Six Flags parks in the 90s if they ever did a US tour, since they were on the Warner Bros. Records label. They honestly didn't put much care in their so-called "US invasion." Only a US music video and that was it.
