29yrswithaGApass
Anyone who experienced Lightnin' Loops probably recalls the lofty staircase you had to climb to get to the ride's trains. Who recalls how the staircase use to shake when the trains were launched?
ericthewanderer
Although I never got to ride LL,I can imagine the shake : I took the backstage tour of GASM twice back when the Coaster Celebrations still happened.During the tour we were allowed to go up the stairs under GASM"s MCBR and it freaked the doo-doo out of us when a train went overhead. The guide said the shake was necessary because if the track was made too stiff(or not allowed to shake that is) it would damage the track alot quicker.
29yrswithaGApass
I remember the red loop shook more than the blue loop because of the extra height.
GAcoaster
Yeah, I think the first time I went to ride LL I chickened out when I started to walk up the stairway and felt the whole ride shake.
Rapidsgod
I spent a lot of time on the red loop far side. I was the new kid on the ride and most of the old crew had done their time. Talk about shake! Best part was the view and If you dosed off the incoming train would shake you awake. this was 1991 btw
DantheWoman
Can I still ride a Shuttle Loop without leaving the USA? I know there's one at Frontier City...
GAcoaster
Frontier City and Elitch Gardens are the last two operating in the US, and I know Elitch's has been spotty operations.
