Medusa42
California's Great America: https://screamscape.com/html/california-s_great_america.htm 2023/2024 - Launched Coaster - Rumor - (11/7/21) Not much to report right now, but hearing that California’s Great America could be in the early phases of planning for the park’s next coaster. The early contender being considered so far is said to be a launched coaster, which was included as part of an approved masterplan presented to the city several years ago. One concept rumored to be under consideration for the park would be a multi-launch coaster from Mack Rides, not unlike Copperhead Strike at Carowinds, but with a custom layout. Knott's Berry Farm: https://screamscape.com/html/knott-s_berry_farm.htm 2023?? - New Roller Coaster - RUMOR - (11/7/21) According to a Screamscape source, the rumored Giga Coaster plans for Knott’s may have been given approval to move forward with an intended timeline of opening the coaster in 2023. Keep an eye on the Mystery Lodge area for possible signs of prep work, as this is where the entrance / station is expected to go, with the rest of the coaster expected to be contained mostly in the southern parking lot area, towards the Hotel. If the rumor holds true, early work to prep the site may begin sometime between Q1 and Q2 of 2022. The plans for a proposed Giga coaster and new parking garage leaked on Discord. https://old.reddit.com/r/rollercoasters/comments/rqwt6p/leaked_plans_for_knotts_berry_farm_giga/ Overlay of the leaked plans created by AbsolutelyClam on reddit. https://old.reddit.com/r/rollercoasters/comments/rqwt6p/leaked_plans_for_knotts_berry_farm_giga/hqd80d0/ Here is an overlay of a earlier version of the Giga coaster plans that also leaked. Medusa42
It looks like Carowinds is planning to retheme the Crossroads section of the park and add four new flats rides (Zamperla Nebulaz, Zamperla Disk-O, Zamperla Air Race, and a Chance Trabant or Freestyle) for 2023. https://parkfans.net/threads/project-2023-crossroads-overhaul-four-new-rides.7240/ https://twitter.com/CarowindsFansOn/status/1507019674692763649/photo/1
Yoshi
Zamperla posted a video on YouTube of the updated spinning Wild Mouse design that Cedar Point is adding next year:
Medusa42
Kings Island is adding two new rides as part of the new Adventure Port area. https://www.visitkingsisland.com/new-in-2023 "The myths of an ancient civilization and its mighty city carved out of stone have lured travelers from around the globe to this bustling port community for more than a century. Welcome to Adventure Port. New in 2023, and located between Coney Mall and Action Zone, the park’s newest themed area will feature two new family rides, enhanced theming for Adventure Express, Enrique’s quick service restaurant and the Mercado."
The Master
Screamscape reports that both Carowinds and Kings Dominion are going to year round operations on weekends. Personally I don't see it lasting long at KD as VA is barely warmer than our region and is still subject to bitter cold harsh winters. Last time I visited there I don't recall many indoor rides there to get out of the cold for a bit.
Yoshi
The only indoor rides I remember are Flight of Fear, Boo Blasters and the simulator theater if they are still using it. I haven't really paid too much attention to how well Busch Garden Williamsburg's attendance was over the winter since they went to year round operations as well but maybe it was good enough for Kings Dominion to want to try it too? 29yrswithaGApass
I must have slept through it - I don’t recall BGW going year round. I wonder what else I missed!
Yoshi
I found a press release from 2021 with the details, only 13 rides and 3 coasters were running then: https://buschgardens.com/williamsburg/media-room/press-releases/010521-now-open-january-and-february/
GAcoaster
Last winter Busch Gardens was open (partially) each weekend with only a few days closed for weather issues. They didn't have the whole park open, and I think KD and Carowinds will probably do the same kind of thing with parts of the park open, while other parts are closed for off season work. I guess it was successful for them because they're doing it again this year.
Yoshi
Maybe a Grizzly re-track?
GAcoaster
It looked like it was hit by a tree a few weeks ago so it needs some work one way or another.

Yoshi
Kings Dominion posted a list of what is going to be open in the winter for their new year round operations. https://www.kingsdominion.com/blog/2023/kings-dominion-year-round-operations The list looks similar to Winterfest with 1 more coaster open in addition to Twisted Timbers and Dominator, Apple Zapple and 10 rides total that aren’t kids rides. GAcoaster
I've heard so many great things about all that Knott's is doing with great new shows throughout the park. Sounds like all the parks but Dorney and Valleyfair are getting decent new attractions or at least upgrades and improvements to existing ones. Yoshi
If Dorney was still my home park, I’d be kind of frustrated that they haven’t really added anything since 2017 except the water park play structure in 2021 that replaced Island Water Works. GAcoaster
Well, to be fair they keep remodeling restaurants so that's SOMETHING I guess
Gyrotron
It's tough to get disappointed with Six Flags (especially any of the parks that have added a coaster in recent years) when some of the Cedar Fair parks are entirely neglected from receiving new attractions.
Yoshi
That’s true. Even the smaller Six Flags parks like Great Escape seem to get some kind of new ride every few years. Besides Dorney, Valleyfair and Michigan’s Adventure also don’t get too many new rides. They posted about renovated restrooms and a new group pavilion as improvements for the season 2 years ago, which is good but not in place of new rides. https://www.valleyfair.com/blog/2021/march/whats-new-in-2021
Yoshi
Kings Island, Kings Dominion and Dorney Park have removed Fast Lane Plus as an option and now there is just regular Fast Lane with the Plus rides now included. https://www.dorneypark.com/fast-lane-passes I would have expected Dorney would have kept the water park attractions as Fast Lane Plus to encourage people to spend the extra $10 upgrading to Plus. On the ride side, regular Fast Lane didn't help much except at Wild Mouse and Thunder Canyon except on the few very crowded days of the year compared to the water park where even on a weekday Aquablast could have a 45 minutes - 1 hour wait. 29yrswithaGApass
I’d be curious to know how much Flash Pass sales declined last season due to the smaller crowds at GA. I would imagine that hit their per cap spending numbers big-time.
Yoshi
https://www.worldsoffun.com/code-of-conduct Worlds of Fun adds a chaperone policy Quote For decades, Worlds of Fun has been a place where families and friends come together to enjoy our one-of-a-kind park. Millions of guests have counted on us for their daily dose of wholesome family fun, and we’re committed to keeping that promise going forward. As part of that commitment, the park will implement a chaperone policy beginning Saturday, April 15, 2023. Under this policy, all guests ages 15 years old or younger must be accompanied by a chaperone who is at least 21 years old to be admitted to, or remain in, the park after 4:00 p.m. The chaperone must present a valid government-issued photo identification with date of birth at ticket entry. In addition, the chaperone must accompany their party during entry, remain inside the park during their visit, and be available by phone throughout their stay. The Master
Screamscape reported there have been fights among teenage guests during the opening weekend for Worlds of Fun. Supposedly many of that park's rides are not yet running which probably doesn't help the situation. Hopefully this is not a new trend among seasonal parks to Spring open with ultra reduced operations.
GAcoaster
Yeah, WoF's story sound familiar-- 5 rides removed this year, some remaining rides not ready to open with the park, and disappointed guests...
