Up_Up_and_Away
According to Billboard's Top Hits: 1976, it was the #2 song for that year!
29yrswithaGApass
^ Right! It was #2 for the year and a #1 hit on the weekly charts during the summer of 1976 which was the year the Musik Express debuted. You can only imagine how many times they played that song on the ride! JetsDevs4Lyf
Probably as often as some radio stations play the top 10 today. I know I hate them after about a week lol.
The Master
Can anyone guess why the song we're playing on the Music Express Spotlight was chosen? (Besides the obvious "play that music" theme) Hint: It wasn't because we searched for a song that contained the lyrics "white boy"! I think it is: play that funky right boy! Play that music rrrright. But it does sound alot like white rather than right.

The Master
Not according to Yahoo Music! Guess I was wrong then. I also guess it's not a very PC song either LOL. Edited August 23, 2008 by The Master
29yrswithaGApass
It's unfortunate that the Musik Express is closed. It's one of the last rides to have miniature bulb lighting. 29yrswithaGApass
From the Big Wheel in 1984, here's a photo of a new tarp cover on the Musik Express.
Yankees99
To my recollection, Music Express never went backwards. Yet another great "flat ride" GA had to offer. The ride operator would often play the top albums out at the time while the ride was in motion. Can vividly recall the guy once playing "Back In Black," and the people waiting on line would get fired up. They had the ride at a cool location in the park, in between the Enterprise and Swabinchin. If you timed it right, you could get on those three rides within 30 minutes or less.
scottcook123456
I use to be a ride lead at the Music Express. Did it ever go backwards and forward? Dorney Park had one that went both directions. I know it could just like the trabant can go both directions, but have they ever done it? Also one last comment about the music, at Dorney the loud speaker overrode the music but not at Great Adventure.
warnerleroy
It's official, our Musik Express is for sale. I think its safe to say Old COuntry is never coming back: http://www.italintl.com/detail_page.php?record_id=1403
Railer
I look at this as a "good" sign. Maybe the new boss has a plan for the area, Other than making a few buck's from selling it.
29yrswithaGApass
Here are the photos from the ad. We really need to get some flats and build up the number of rides (himalaya, swings, bumper cars) that guests expect a park to have, and notice when they do not have them. Railer
Can I post some of my shot's from last season now?
scipiomask
This probably means that they'll replace it, put some new rides back there, and open it up. If all my dreams came true, they'd put a GCI woodie in the woods back there and call it "Jersey Devil", and make it like the Beast where it's hard to tell what's coming from the entrance. That'd be the perfect compliment to El Toro and Nitro, our other two "Top 10" coasters.

29yrswithaGApass
The Musik Express looks untouched for now. In my opinion, if, according to their ad, the Musik Express is in "Good" condition than why not reopen it given our extreme shortage of family flat rides? Hopefully the new management team will reconsider.
Railer
From the sound of things we are going to get more than just the "Green Lantern". If they don't plan on opening up the "Old Country", maybe a move is in store.
SwedishSkinJer
Hi, everyone. It's terrible to see the park's fantastic himalaya ride, Musik Express, standing but not operating. Has there been any word concerning possible repairs over the course of the 2011 season for perhaps a late 2011/2012 opening? From what I've heard, there's been no plans to remove it; it's just not a priority right now.
29yrswithaGApass
Dismantling of the Musik Express has begun. It is not expected to reopen this season.
SwedishSkinJer
Wow, that's REALLY depressing. Six Flags Great Adventure has lost yet another memorable flat ride. So many great memories on this with friends and family. I was hoping to see it operate on at least a semi-regular basis this season... Yankees99
Had the radio on the other day while driving and heard Paul McCartney's "Silly Love Songs." Have heard the song millions of times since 1976, but it somehow flashed in my mind that was the song the ride operators for Music Express played the first time I rode that ride that year. Does anybody remember the song played the first time you went on it?
29yrswithaGApass
I don't remember the very first song I heard on there but I do recall them playing a lot of The Poilce in the early 80's. "Synchronocity II" in particular: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UbQd3jxth5k
