  1. At the end of July, GA's attendance was up between 12% and 15% compared to the 1984 season's figures.
  2. Great memory for details. I was working nights in Cash Control at the time and moved to Marketing Research the Monday following the contest. I have never ridden the Starship, but did quite a bit of exit interviews among riders.
  3. Violence marred 1987 Easter outings for thousands of guests to the park. One guest was shot, while two others were stabbed in three unrelated incidents at GA.
  4. Ray Williams ponders GA's future after being brought to the park midway through the 1987 season. Six Flags executives at corporate tapped Williams as the man most capable of turning the park around following a series of mishaps during the first half of the 1987 season. Williams had most recently been President of SF Great America, in Gurnee, iL. He first served as VP/General Manager of Six Flags over Georgia, then Six Flags over Texas before being installed as the first Six Flags VP/General Manager at the Gurnee Great America park following Six Flags' purchase of the park from Marriott Corporation in 1984.
