Well after a few days of rain in isolated areas and making the mistake of actually "believing" the weather man. we decided to go to Great advenuture yesterday. We arrived there ( my wife, son and I) just before the parking lot gates opened, the light for the season pass lane was still red and we had to wait another 10 miniutes after they started to let cars in until that lane opened up and it looked like it was going to be a busy packed day.
We parked in our usual favorite spot, at the end of the preferred parking barrier by Superman and green lantern, and headed for some fun at the park. This was one of those times where the premium pass holder perk of entering the park 10 minutes before everyone else paid off for "safari". We headed straight for the safari ride and was pleased to find out that the area was open and didn't have to wait until 11:00 or 11:30 for that area to open.there was about 10 to 15 people on line at that point.
After a few minutes they opened up the ride, they gave us tix asking how many in our party and went straight to where they take our pictures. Got on the very first truck and off to the adventure. The ride was surprisingly comfortable and the animals were great. Last time I went throught the safari I was around 10 or 11, (43 now). My wife and son really enjoyed it too. Camp adventura was nice but smaller that I imagined, we hoped on the next truck and continued the tour. i was really good and a nice change of pace and the line when we got back was all the way out by run away train, WOW !
Now off to some fun riding, first we went on Bizzaro, my son's second time on the coaster and it was awesome, he really enjoyed it more this time, they were letting people go a few times since it seemed like everyone else was at the safari, the guy in the train in front of was had already ridden 7 times, LOL. Then we went to El Toro ( see side note below about my wife), I got on El Toro, my son isnt ready for it yet, the wait was less than 5 minutes, straped and stapled myslef in on the 3rd train from the back. This ride is unbeleivable, doesnt matter how many times youve ridden it it's always awesome.
Then we went on Rolling Thunder, my son's first actula "big coaster", and since all the rumors going around the changes for next year we wanted to enjoy that ride and it was smoother and faster than usual, we road left twix, lol.
After that the park was really getting packed (see side note), so I decided to get in a few more rides before we left, it was around 12;30 bny thios time, so I headed for kingda Ka which i havent had a chance to ride this season yet and of course, it was down again. Whent back to get my wife and son to go to the bucaneer na dthe line was looong, skipped that and went to Skull mountain, It was a 4 train wait for the back good ride as always, ( you winter adventure members know what I mean) and then went to see how the line for Nitro was and it was passed the 90 minute mark, So we decided to get a soda refill, eat lunch at the car, enjoyed watching the coasters from the lot and we left. all in all it was a good funday.
**** Side Note***** i put this here to explain that even though i buy a season pass for my wife to both six flags and Doreny park she doesnt ride anything, HUh ! you say, yeah she doesnt get on any rides, the first coaster shw got on with me was the great american scream machine and when she got off that ride she was as red as the track then as white as the support colums, LOL it ook us about an hour just to get her on Tango, (she ddint like it) so we go to the water parks (season pass) all she gets in is the wave pools and maybe just bumper cars at the park cause she's scared to ride.
So i hope you enjoyed the read, you all can reach me here or on facebook @ Felix Garcia Jr.
BTW: who's going to R.O.T.B. this year ?
