There is also no left lane shoulder on the Turnpike making it harder to pass slow vehicles on the right lane. There are times where bumper to bumper traffic is about to happen because of slower moving trucks.

Parts of I-81 are like that because of the volume of truck traffic.

Last time I was on the Schuylkill Expressway, we were able to hit 65 in some parts because it was a Saturday. The problem about the PA Turnpike between Harrisburg and King of Prussia is that the truck drivers would drive around 50 to 60 miles per hour when the speed limit is now 70; maybe because of the amount of sharp turns and they are scared to lose control. If there weren't as many slow drivers on that stretch, most cars would fly between 80 and 90 on the straight parts and 65 to 75 on the turns.

I think it is even worse once you get west of KOP because it's only 2 lanes with very hilly curves and all the truck traffic.  If a truck decides to pass a slower truck, you can be blocked and are  screwed for several miles before the truck gets out of the left lane.

You'd be surprised, I knew some Danger Rangers out at Gettysburg who did stints in Philadelphia.  They'd run between the two parks just for fun.  They also used to screw with the ghost hunters at on the battlefields with the spots.

They'd be lucky to get up to 30 MPH on the Schuylkill Expressway..... :)

  4. I wonder how many of the supports for the panels in the parking lots will get hit or damaged by some yahoo  My daughter started attending Stockton University in 2012, and they built solar panels over many of the dorm parking lots soon after.  During the time she was there, I didn't see any evidence of damage.  However, at GA they'll be dealing with people that don't live there, aren't familiar with the supports, and a significantly higher number of patrons that are virtually different every day.  It should be interesting.

I assume they won't build panels in the RV or bus parking areas, due to vehicle heights.

I'm thinking the preferred parking lot would be a good candidate.  They can say the upgrade gets you shade also.

Found out what its past life was. The car used to be a National Park Service Chief's car. It has a NPS sticker in the driver's side door above the decal that has all the option codes. Probably came from either Independence Hall or Valley Forge park.

So I doubt that car was driven at 140 mph, unless someone tried to steal the Liberty Bell and there was an ensuing high speed chase....LOL.

Great adventure is literally a mile outside of Eagles territory. It has everything to do with Comcast since they only broadcast  Philadelphia content. I believe Hawkins Rd (or close to it) which is just south of the park is the furthest north Comcast provides service before Cable Vision takes over and New York programming starts. The general rule of thumb I've always used was south of 195 are Eagles fans, north of 195 are Giant fans and we both don't care about the Jets.

I'm so pissed that I can't get NY sports team coverage because I live in Verizon's Phila market.  The only way I can get coverage is if I subscribe to the NFL, NBA, and MLB packages.  And no way in Hades am I giving them one more dime of my hard-earned money.  My bill is already well over $200 a month as it is, for 200 channels of mostly useless crap on FioS.

, a lack of desire to do the job (mommy and daddy will subsidize lifestyle).

Don't get me started on this.  I know many kids who have already graduated college, some even with masters degree, who haven't gotten jobs and are still sucking off their parent's teets.  They can't even pay their student loans, let alone pay for bare minimum living essentials.  And there is no urgency to get a good paying job because their parent's enable this behavior.  I told my kids as soon as you are done with school you can still live at home, but everything else is on you.  The Bank of Mommy and Daddy is closed!

  8. It's interesting that you can't see much of anything from the main entrance to Hershey Park, other than maybe the kissing tower way in the back.  You can see a lot of the rides from the opposite end near where that outlet mall is located.

The front of Dutch Wonderland is kind of cool with the castle moat thing going on, along with the monorail above the lot.  Otherwise they don't have a lot of tall rides to see much of.

High turnovers are often a result of poor management.

My daughter can personally vouch for that.  I've told her over and over again that bad managers are more common than good ones in any line of business. All too often people who are good technically, or those that have college degrees in business, are promoted to managers, but do not have the people skills or the proper training to effectively manage subordinates.

My wife worked for a small cleaning business for about two years.  The woman who owned and managed the business was totally incompetent as a boss.  I was flabbergasted that her business made any money and was still viable.  And talk about the turnover rate.......and these were not teenagers or college kids she hired.  Eventually my wife got so frustrated with her boss that she had to quit, even though she liked the actual work she was doing.

I'm not bashing SFGA.....it's just the way business is in this country.

Its why I hate PC. I remember the last few years Disney Channel showed the old Disney shorts, many were heavily edited to be PC and almost rendered unwatchable. I still remember how all the old Turner channels use to show LT as well as ABC and Nick, but they are hardly ever shown anymore which is sad.

If history doesn't fit your agenda, then modify or hide it.......pretty sad indeed....  :(

  11. I keep seeing advertisement for this Thursday night's episode of their new show Mega Machines, which is on the topic of roller coasters.  Based on the quick video footage, I could not tell what parks or coasters they are highlighting.  And I can't find any additional info on this episode that will air at 10 pm as the 5th of the season.  Does anyone know about this and will you be watching?

There's a reason why no other parks have installed a ride like this. It was too expensive for a seasonal park to purchase and then maintain  without the backing of Anheuser Busch being there any longer.

And to think I remember the days when you could take a tram ride over to the AB brewery, get a tour and a free beer!

18, inherited my vinyl copy from my dad! Both of us big Billy Joel fans!

My brother sells and installs big party tents.  A couple years ago he sold Billy Joel a large tent for his Long Island mansion.  When he went there to install the tent, Joel was actually home and came out of the house and introduced himself (as if he needed to).

I thought SF Great Escape (especially when it was Story Town) had a nice skyline, or at least curbside appeal from Route 9, when you could see their one rollercoaster right up by the parking lot.

Not really a song, but Billy Joel’s album The Stranger. Always listened to it on trips to the park with friends. Also because it never really left my car’s CD player

How old are you?  That album came out when I was in high school and I played it until I wore out the record on my turntable!
