  1. A wonderful and detailed history of Dream Street. Another excellent job!
  2. I vaguely remember the show. Carrying the loaves across the greased pole was hilarious. I do remember having an employee party at thearea during the show’s run. Teams fromeach operation competed. Somehow, myfriend Joe and I ended up with the responsibility of getting the outfitscleaned for the next day. Nothing likebeing in a Brown’s Mills 24 hr Laundromat at 2:30 in the morning, and still showup for work at 8.
  3. Great pics (not just because I am in some of them). I especially like the clowns in the hot air balloon basket from 1975 (I am the Toy Soldier saluting). The clown in the bottom left was a great story teller and one of the funniest people I've ever met. And, the musketeers really fit the part.
  4. I just noticed your question from October. I think that the park was really starting to expand in 78, in addition to the music hall, we had more street characters. I also remember popping into the music hall for a quick rest in the a/c.
  5. Jessica by the Allman Brothers. That was played all day long at the Aqua Theater
  6. That I cannot help you with. We would need to get that from the managers who did the hiring.
  7. I believe that the goal was to make fantasies come alive (since we were initially limited to Dream Street). Staying in character while on the street was big. A good example was Alice in Wonderland. She looked the part, spoke the part and no one could get her out of character.
  8. The Great Parade started at the Gingerbread Fancy and ended at the Northern Arena. All of the entertainers from the Arena shows were in the parade. The Street Characters drove all of the vehicles. I am not sure how the gate / fence by the Gingerbread Fancy never fell down. It was a tight squeeze getting some of the larger "floats" through the gate. The goal of the parade was to lead / attrack people to the area show and that side of the park.
  9. I believe that it was the Great Parade (as the banner says). I answered without looking at the pictures.
  10. No, I was not in the house that much to remember the layout. And, yes, they were togas. That was my last day working at the park in 78. Animal House was released during that summer. That was one of the nutty things we did on the last operating day.
  11. This was staffed by the existing street characters. So, it was odd to see Mother Goose get transformed to a ghoul. The Butcher was an interesting character. He had a heart of gold, loved being a clown, and loved entertaining kids. He also played Santa at a department store in Hamilton. But, get him in the Butcher costume, and he would scare the *#@& out of you. Raggedy Ann and I would go through, and We were scared.

I always wondered what was going through someone's head going to an amusement park in heels.
  13. That was off limits. I think that our supervisors (which there were 2) always wanted to find us quickly / easily. Nothing like a bunch of clowns running amok in the park!
  14. I do not recall any themed music (aside from the Allman Brothers coming from the Aqua Theater). I hear Jessica, and it takes me back.
  15. The first one was Lightnin' Loops in 1978. Later that summer, a group of us from Show Ops took a day trip to Hershey Park for the Sooperdooperlooper. The tough part was leaving at 5:30 to 6 in the morning to get to Hershey, hoping that the lines were not too long.
  16. Nice job. I always found it amazing the number of people that used to scoop up the change that people threw into the fountain.
  17. The entrance was changed when the park opened the 1976 season.
  18. He was not the king. I cannot remember what fairy tale he was from.
  19. As a general rule, you were the character that you were hired to portray. There were some characters that you tried to have on the street every day. For those, you had to have fill ins on their days off. This was good, because it led to people experimenting with other characters.
  20. I just checked my 1975 pictures, but did not have one of the first building.
  21. My wife thinks that she remembers them from 1975, and that you had to pay extra for them (or she was thinking about another park).
