Mr.Six
A few Dollywood visitors I know have told me that Lightning Rod is indeed running slower, especially the launch. Is it for efficiency of the ride, because a few different people on different days noticed that you barley made it to the drop. What's your thoughts? Matt Kaiser
The public doesn't know what changes they made to the launch system (or what the problem exactly is), but it's probably either the new limit of the launch system, or it's lessened to put less strain on the problematic launch system. Mrpq
Screamscape reports it is not running slower and has confirmation from Dolleywood stating its still running at its 73+mph speeds. they also state no trims have been added. how come they couldn't do a launch system like on the new Itimans/Maverik or like California Screamer at Disneyland. Those magnetic systems don't seem to have issues
Matt Kaiser
Those are made by Intamin. For whatever reason (probably cost), RMC decided to use a vendor for the launch that had no prior experience with launches, only magnetic braking.
