To set itself apart, Wind Creek plans to diversify the offerings on the former Bethlehem Steel Corp. plant land, turning it into more than just one of Pennsylvania’s top performing gaming halls.

Once the sale is finalized, Wind Creek plans to spend $90 million expanding the existing hotel with a 300-room new tower and invest more than $100 million in turning the No. 2 Machine Shop into a 300,000-square-foot indoor/adventure water park and hotel. Conceptual renderings show the long, vacant building transformed into a gigantic greenhouse-like structure between the SteelStacks and casino.

Wind Creek told the gaming board it wants to begin development of a hotel tower to complement the existing one as soon as it closes.

As for the development of the water park and another adjoining hotel, it appears no specific timeline has been set. Within the park will be about 105,000 square feet of water rides, along with other activities like rock-climbing and zip lines, according to the plans submitted with the state.

The cost of the projects was redacted in the documentation provided by the gaming board. Wind Creek, owned by the Poarch Creek band of Indians, previously announced it planned to immediately invest $190 million into the property. The Morning Call reported that Wind Creek has set aside $250 million for the water park and adjoining hotel, plus $90 million for the existing hotel.
