I have a question to make, I know there will be crowds on tomorrow and Labor Day. I wonder Log Flume will going to be close soon?
I'm might aheading to the park on next weekend maybe Saturday or Sunday. Will Log Flume will be open by next weekend? In previous years, they usually close both water rides right AFTER Labor Day. I doubt it'll be open on the 7th and 8th of September.

Hello everyone! This particular visit to the park for me was special because I haven't actually BEEN to Great Adventure since December of 2017. Since I went to college in Connecticut in 2016, it became nigh-impossible to find time to visit the NJ park (although I did make plenty of visits to Six Flags New England in the last 3 years.) Fortunately, I graduated this past May and got myself a new Membership card for Great Adventure a few weeks ago. I'm also aware that I was visiting the park the day before the big 2020 announcement, but it was the only day this week that I had off from work, so it was a coincidence.
My party (Me, my mother, her friend and her two children) arrived at 11 AM and immediately went on the Safari Off Road Adventure, which barely had a line. Due to the muggy weather yesterday, it didn't stop at Camp Adventura and (according to the app) actually closed altogether later on; we lucked out big time. Next up we rode Runaway Train, then the Skyride so that we could get lunch on the other side of the park. Then we able to all ride SkyScreamer twice in a row since the lines were so short (which ended up being a common occurrence thanks to the on-and-off rain that day). Next up for me was Wonder Woman & Cyborg, (while our 3 friends rode Dark Knight) and now that I've finally ridden both of them, I now know to NOT ride them back to back. The number of times I felt my stomach drop between both rides was almost too much for me.
After a brief break, we all rode Justice League together, which accumulated a 20-minute wait since it was raining at the time. Also, keep in mind that the younger of the 2 children in my party is too short to ride the attractions that have a 54" height limit, so he wasn't able to ride everything. The elder of the two young'n's tried to ride Nitro with me, but it broke down right as we were about to board (it would have been a walk on!) After that we were able to ride Congo Rapids twice in a row. I usually don't go on the water rides, but before the actual 2020 announcement, the rumor was that Congo Rapids would be replaced by the new ride, so it was now or never for us.
Next up was Joker, which also broke down was we were about to ride it, but we eventually got to ride it after a quick ride on Swashbuckler and back to back rides on Skull Mountain. Next, was the Parachutes, which we were able to ride 3 times in a row. While we were up there, we finally saw Kingda Ka running, so that was next for myself, my mother and the the elder of the children. She was worn out after one ride (which was her first on KK), but I got to ride it a 2nd consecutive time, which is practically unheard of! Then was Zumanjaro for my mother, the younger child, and I, and he loved it so much that he & my mother rode it three times in a row (I only did it twice). After that it the rain became the worst it was all day, and by that point it was 8:45 PM so we called it a day after a quick trip to the Main Street gift shop.
My FInal Ride-count :
Parachutes 3x
Kingda Ka 2
SkyScreamer 2x
Skull Mountain 2x
Zumanjaro 2x
Congo Rapids 2x
Wonder Woman 1x
Cyborg 1x
Joker 1x
Justice League 1x
Swashbuckler 1x
Runaway Train 1x
Skyride 1x
Safari 1x
My camera actually broke in the middle of the day, so I wasn't able to get as many pics as I wanted, but I still took plenty of photos. I'll upload them shortly...

My favorite rows are whichever ones have the smallest lines...
(except El Toro, Skull Mountain, and Bizarro- I always try to get the back row whenever possible)

For me, Superman is one of those rides that you either ride first or not at all. After all, most of the time, the lines are SUPER long, like long enough to the point where it's not worth it afterward.

Hi everyone! I need some some help from you guys...
I haven't been to Great Adventure in almost 2 years! I've had to stop going on a regular basis because I went to college in Connecticut three years ago., but the good news is that I just graduated a recently! I've already bought a Membership pass for Great Adventure (thanks to the ongoing sale) and am planning to visit the park with my family on Wednesday 8/28.
Aside from the obvious new rides, are there any new, more subtle, features that have added to the park recently? I know about the solar field and whatnot, but I mean things that the general public may not notice, but theme park nerds like us would? Also, since I need to get my new Membership processed and get my card, have they streamlined that process any time recently?
I'll be sure to bring my camera and take plenty of pictures to show you guys, like I usually used to do.
Thanks in advance!

Flyin' Phil...
Now that's a name I haven't heard in a long time...Seriously though, it's good to see you're still doing this for us. Thanks a million!

How sad. This, I believe, is the first death in the park since the Haunted House fire in 1984. My thoughts are with the employee's family right now.

No more Golden Kingdom? Possible re-naming in the future?
A dazzle and a crash
I saw the little one in the front trying to escape!
So majestic!
Obligatory nature shot (behind Best Of the West).
Modern art masterpiece.
Loving the new blue paint!
They give these out now for all the major rides.
THIS is why you can't bring things on Ka anymore, people!
New painted Paralax!

Yesterday I had a fantastic day at the park! Not only was the weather very nice, but to my surprise, it was also Season Pass Appreciation weekend! They had a bunch of stuff going on such as ERT for certain coasters each day (but I got o the park after that happened) as well as discounts for pass holders. My mother and I ended up getting 2 t-shirts and a cap for only $18.50 at the end of the day.
Before all that, we entered the park not too long after it opened and went straight to the Safari. I got plenty of decent pictures of all the animals which I'll show of later. After that, we squeezed in two consecutive rides on Bizarro, which were both walk-ons because three trains were running. Also, all of the effects EXCEPT the flamethrowers were working when we rode it. Then we took the Skyride over to the other side of the park to get lunch. We went to the Primo's/Johnny Rockets near Nitro and it ended up taking us about 45 minutes just to get our food. I think that they must have been severely understaffed in there. Anyway, after that we went on Batman: The Ride twice in a row and got to see a snippet of our ride video; I have no idea how ling they're going to keep that up, but it's a very interesting concept.
After that, my mother went back to the car to rest while I stayed and went on the Joker by myself (thank goodness for the single riders line). Then I went on Nitro, which was a 15 minute wait, and tried to go by Justice League, but the wait was too long for me. I decided to go on Houdini for the heck of it and I ended up finishing the day with Kingda Ka for the first, and probably only, time this season. I reunited with my mother, who had since re-entered the park and rode Zumanjaro (which she keeps referring to as "Freefall" ) twice in a row.
It was a very nice day at the park for both of us, except for the fact that I lost my season pass card after we first entered the park, but I just got myself a new one at guest relations, so it was no big deal. The woman there even waived the replacement fee for the card, which was nice. Overall, 5 out of 6 Flags!
I'll post my pictures momentarily...

I meant to post my trip report a few days ago, but I've been busy with other matters. My mother and I left our house in Long Island at about 7:45 AM but we didn't actually get to the park until around noon because of the insane NYC traffic. As soon as we entered, we headed straight to the new Justice League ride. Unfortunately, I expected the old entrance to the former Old Country area to be opened up since it leads right to the new ride, but it was not. So we walked the longer way to the ride from Movietown and waited about 20 minutes for the ride, but there was so much going on in the queue (i.e. the Cyborg animatronic) that it felt faster than it actually was. I even ended up getting the high score out of everyone in our car!
After that, we had some lunch then headed for Nitro, which was a 25 minute wait with three trains running. After another ride on Nitro, we rode Swashbuckler (which has a new sign) and The Joker. Next, we headed towards the Big Wheel, which only had an approx. 15 minute wait. After a quick snack, my mother decided to rest in the car, while I headed toward the other side of the park. I ended up riding Bizarro (which had a 15 minute wait), El Toro (a 20 minute wait), and El Diablo (5 minutes). I didn't feel like going on Ka or Zumanjaro because I heard from someone else that it was an hour wait for both. I finished off the day with a walk-on Twister, the Parachutes (which had 3/4 of the sides open) and the Green Lantern, which now had a painted-on version of Paralax before the yellow loop instead of the 3D sign that was removed a few years ago. We left the park around 6:00 and ate dinner at Dairy Queen, since they don't exist near where I live.
Overall, it was a successful day and I was able to ride plenty of rides for a summer day, including the new ride. 5 out of 6 Flags.
Pictures will be posted later.

Here's my trip report as well as my pictures from this previous Saturday. I meant to post this earlier, but I've been busy with stuff.
I went to the park with my mother and sister who were visiting from Long Island while I'm at Hartford, CT for school. They decided to nap in the car for a little bit while I went in the park and rode Superman. It was about a twenty five minute wait with two trains running. This was actually my first time NOT riding it as Bizarro with all of the bells & whistles on it, and it was still an amazing ride regardless. Then I walked over to Pandemonium where my mother and sister were waiting and we all rode it together. Next up was the New England Sky Screamer, which was just a five minute wait since few people would be willing to ride it in 50-ish degree weather.
After we got our souvenir bottles, I tried to get on Mind Eraser with the VR headsets, but they weren't working when I walked over there, so I rode Batman: The Dark Knight instead. I even got assigned to the front row, which was nice. By this point, my mother and sister left the park to get lunch while I stayed behind to ride more stuff. Next up was Goliath, then Wicked Cyclone, which was a thirty-ish minute wait, but still worth it. After that we all left because my family had to catch the ferry back to Long Island before sundown. It was a nice day overall. By sheer coincidence, my college is planning a trip to the park in about two weeks, so I'll get to visit the park again sooner than I thought!

Fitzgerald was the MAN! I wish I had the opportunity to met him in person when I visited the park within the last five years. I'll certainly miss him. I'll be waiting with baited breath to see who the new President will be.!

Chickie and Pete's was really good! It's like a pub/restaurant combination.
Also, Rougarou was running very well in my opinion. I like it much better now than when it was Mantis.

I went to Cedar Point on Saturday and it ended being a mediocre day at the park for me personally. There were periods of rain, even heavy downpour, so I wasn't able to ride too many coasters, but I still rode plenty. I went with my mother plus 4 family members who all came to the park after I did. I first rode Rougarou and Millennium Force on my own then joined up with the group and we all rode Rougarou together. After that, they went off to ride Blue Streak while I waited to register for the Iron Dragon VR for about 30 minutes. Meanwhile, my mother entered the park later on because she was tired from driving 1 1/2 hours to the park, so I met up with her, then grouped up with everyone else.
We got on line for Gatekeeper and waited a good 15 minutes before the first batch of rain came in. We all decided to eat lunch at Chickie and Pete's near Raptor & Blue Streak. Once the rain let up, I convinced everyone to ride Raptor, which was about a 5 minute wait. Keep in mind that we all had the regular Fast Lane wristbands, so we didn't have to wait very long for everything we rode. After Raptor, we tried Gatekeeper again. My mother and I successfully rode it, but just as everyone else was about to get on, the worst period of the Saturdays rain began. My mother and I were really lucky because it was my favorite "new" coaster of the day (I already rode Millennium Force 5 years ago.) We took shelter in the GateKeeper gidt shop then decided to temporarily leave the park.
We grouped up at a local Dunkin Donuts and everyone except for my mother and I decided to call it quits and go home. My mother and I re-entered the park around 5:30 when the rain lightened up a bit. I ended up riding Mean Streak so that I could get the credit before it closes forever next month. The coaster itself was not very good, but the fact that I rode it before its closure was great. I then walked around and waited for Gemini to open, only to be hot with rain again. I ended up riding Wilderness Run just to get another credit. Meanwhile, my mother rode Wicked Twister then gave up. Unfortunately, I didn't ride the VR Iron Dragon due to the rain, but I still have the yellow information guide as a souvenir.
Overall, I'm fortunate that I rode 5 new coasters, but just like my last trip to CP five years ago, Mother Nature worked against me. 5 out of 10.
Ridelist: Rougarou 2x
Millenium Force 1x
Gatekeeper 1x
Raptor 1x
Mean Streak 1x
Wilderness Run 1x
VR Iron Dragon 0x
I'll post my pictures momentarily...

Hi everyone. Yesterday was a (mostly) great day for me at the park. Unfortunately, my main reason for visiting the park this time was to ride The Joker, but it was closed yesterday. Aside from that, I was able to get on plenty of other rides, starting with Nitro twice in a row. After that was a quick ride on Batman, which was a 5 minute wait, and The Dark Knight Coaster, which was a walk on. After that, my mother and I temporarily left the park to visit the Freehold Mall for lunch and to search for a copy of the Images of Modern America: Six Flags Great Adventure book. Mr. Applegate, if you are reading this, you have once again put together an AMAZING collection of pictures. Thank you so much for making a sequel to the first book, which I also own and adore.
After buying the book, I re-entered the park and went on Houdini, which was a 10 minute wait. All throughout the day, I was playing Pokemon Go in between rides, and the park is full of hot spots that are registered in the game. I played it so often that my battery ran out by 4:00 in the evening! Anyway, thanks to the life-saving single rider's line, I was able to ride Zumanjaro twice in a row, each time waiting no more than 15 minutes. After a quick ride on the Parachute Tower, I regrouped with my mother and she really wanted to ride Zumanjaro herself, so I rode it another two times with her alongside me.
We ate lunch at Mama Flora's then went on Bizarro twice in a row followed by Runaway Mine Train. The first two rows on the yellow/red train were tied down because they were somehow unrideable. After that, my mother was done for the day, but I still wanted to ride Toro and Kingda Ka before the day was out. Toro was a 20 minute wait and Kingda Ka (with three trains, including new ads on one of them) was about an hour or so. Ironically, right after my train finished riding Ka, they experienced minor technical difficulties and we had to wait another 5 minutes to be unloaded.
Overall, it was a fine day at the park. 4.5 out of 6 Flags
Ridelist: Zumanjaro 4x
Bizarro 2x
Nitro 2x
Batman 1x
Dark Knight 1x
Parachutes 1x
Houdini 1x
Runaway Mine Train 1x
El Toro 1x
Kingda Ka 1x
I'll post my pictures shortly...

Yeah, sorry. I just edited my last post a few minutes ago. Screamscape just posted about it today, so I thought it was a different story. My bad!

Screamscape reported today that ANOTHER person was chastised for wearing an "inappropriate" shirt. Once you read it, you'll see how cringeworthy the situation was. Here's the full story: http://www.self.com/trending/2016/08/six-flags-said-this-womans-shirt-was-inappropriate-on-her-but-not-on-her-guy-friend/
EDIT: sorry, it's the same woman as yesterday. Screamscape only reported on it today. My bad!

I was actually planning to go to Cedar Point on August 13 for a few months now. Looks like Mean Streak will be a requirement for me. I definitely want that credit before it's too late.

As many of you have already noticed, Pokémon Go is a relatively new phone app that's sweeping the nation. The app already has over 10 million download on Android devices alone and business all over the world are attempting to capitalize on the app's popularity. Places like restaurants and even your local library have been bringing people into their buildings with the promise of relatively rare Pokémon for players to catch. It looks like our own park, Six Flags Great Adventure, is riding on this popularity train as well.
The nice fellows in charge of Six Flags Great Adventure's website (as well as the websites for every other Six Flags park, I'm sure) has put together a Pokémon Go Player's Guide to our theme park and it can be found right here: https://www.sixflags.com/greatadventure/newsroom/pokemon-go-guideThe article gives common sense advice such as "don't walk into unrestricted areas" and "put on sunscreen while at the park", but it also gives out the names of every hot spot that can benefit Pokémon Go players. There are 5 Pokémon Gyms (located at places like the Batmobile and the Safari entrance) where players can use the Pokémon they captured for friendly competitions and attempt to claim the gym for themselves. There are also 38 PokéStops, located at landmarks such as ride signs and restaurants, where players can collect items to aid on their quest to catch these creatures.
Some people have been responding to the app negatively, saying that it gets younger people walking around in places that they shouldn't be in. At the end of the day, it's up to the parents to instill common sense into these youngsters and alert them of the dangers that potentially come with walking around with your phone in hand. Besides, many Great Adventure guests come to the park looking at their phones all day long anyway, so what's harm in playing another app while in the park.
I personally think that Pokémon Go is a great thing. It's getting many young people, such as myself, to go outside, get some exercise, and explore the world that they live in. Tons of people, regardless of gender, race, or beliefs, are coming together and having fun because of this app.
If you guys do play Pokémon Go in the park, have some fun, but be safe too!

I voted "Good, but in moderation". I think that after The Joker and the re-named Harley Quinn, it's about time for a break from superhero-named rides. I'd love to see some more originally named rides in the next few years.
2019 Great ADVENTure Calendar- Day 3- More Freestyle Machines in the Park
in 2019 Great ADVENTure Calendar
Posted
Every single time my mother and I go to the park recently, my mother actually asks me if they added any new Coke Freestyle machines anywhere else in the park. They HAVE added a few in recent years, but I also wish there were more.
Actually, when I went to the park in a few months ago (early September), Coke was actually doing a promotional thing involving the Freestyle machines. Unfortunately, they only let us fill up tiny sample cups rather than our Membership bottles, which seemed nonsensical to me. Hopefully, this demonstration leads to more machines in the future.
