  1. Apparently SFMM's was also 172 feet when they announced it in the press release. I don't know if it shrank since then or if there's now 3 World's Tallest. But by that logic, we probably have the world's tallest scrambler too, right?
  2. HA! Nope! It's 50% off the full season price. They recently started letting people pay upfront for a membership instead of monthly. It's called a "Full Season Membership" and is only valid for the year, sort of like a season pass. It's ridiculous. The Diamond Elite "Full Season Membership" is $490 upfront for all of 2019. And so the memberships are over 50% off of that full season price, down to $19/month, which is the price it always is. The FAQs say that they don't plan to have sales on memberships like they do for season passes. They'll always be the same price, at least until they all increase for normal inflation. For the 3-month deal, you get a bonus 3 months of membership AFTER you cancel. So if you cancel after your 12 months are up, you'll stop paying, but the membership is active for another 3 months. NOTE That it does NOT extend your dining / flash pass, or whatever other add-ons Six Flags may invent. If you stay a member for 48 months instead of canceling to get the 3 months, they'll give you 3 months worth of in-park spending credit.
  3. I think the others will suffer if anything due to the IP trails taking priority for both construction/preparation and operation/staffing.
  4. Six Flags FUN! has spoken. The Raptor is final. No returns. No exchanges.
  5. I've always wondered, what does the "gyro" mean in Gyrodrop? It's just Intamin's model name for the ride, right? And it's specifically the one with the seats rotating in a ring around the tower?
  6. I think IPs for Fright Fest trails can only improve them at Six Flags. There's actually pressure for them to be good and there's usually a higher level of quality compared to the typical Six Flags trail.
  7. On the topic of theme parks in shows, I was just watching the newest season of Orange Is the New Black on Netflix. At one point, they claim to be at Hersheypark but they really filmed at Rye Playland Park in NY. It didn't quite make sense geographically for what was going on, so I'm not sure why they chose to make it Hersheypark. And the show is set in NY, so Rye Playland would have probably made more sense.
  8. Zippered pockets are fine for all their rides. Ka, Toro, and Joker are the only rides in all of Six Flags with that no-items-at-all policy.
  9. But who does know? Send me their YouTube channel so we can get the REAL info.
  10. The only thing you may need the pass for is the season terror trail pass during Fright Fest, but how they handle it changes a bit each year. A few years they used to put a sticker on your season pass, so you needed the card then. The past year or two, they've given a separate business card and wrote the last 4 digits of your season pass on it, which a security guard then checks with your season pass at each trail entrance. Not sure if they required the pass or allowed the app for that.
  11. The other interesting thing is that there aren't even motors on the side that they're working on. (At least, from what's visible & what I assume) Each ring has a big motor on one side and a slightly smaller silver metal cylinder on the opposing side. I'm not sure what the silver cylinder is, but it's smaller than its opposing motor and doesn't look like the usual ride motor. My best guess is that it's something to keep a balanced force/torque on both sides of the ring (a small motor?), but I assume it is not the main rotating force for the ring. Both the green motor and the silver cylinder are visible in the same pic, and the green motor seems larger than silver cylinder. Does the green motor go inside the ring or the lift arm's connection to the ring? First pic shows how the motors/cylinders line up in the home/resting position. Both cylinders are on the side they're working on in Harry's photo.
  12. I'm very curious about that motor they put on. It looks much bigger than the existing motors, and it's green.
  13. Some were already bent and damaged, I believe just from the installation.
  14. My guess for the first thing to be vandalized are the thin decorative pieces meant to look like a circuit board. They can easily be bent and the fence right in front of the ride will be a pretty high-traffic area for that.
  15. Where do you all hear all this stuff?
  16. Not sure if it's solid/filled or empty, but the top half of that inner ring is subtly larger than the bottom half with the seats. As in, if you were to detach the seats, the top would be bulkier and heavier. That's gotta be just a tiny amount of difference, though. I'm sure with the seats, they'd want the seat side to be heavier so that the gondola would rest right-side-up in a failure.
  17. UPDATE Great Adventure has changed the schedule slightly. Passholders can ride today. Changes in red. Friday: Members only before noon, Members and passholders after noon Saturday: Members only before noon, Members and passholders after noon Sunday: Members only before noon, Members and passholders after noon Cyborg will be closed Monday. I'm not sure if there is any plan for Tuesday. Wednesday: Ride opens to the public at 2pm. "Members" means Gold Plus, Platinum, Diamond, and Diamond Elite. Diamond and Diamond Elite members can use the flash pass entrance after noon on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Non-passholders can buy the Cyborg t-shirt for access to the ride from noon to 9pm on Saturday and Sunday.
  18. 19. The same survey is for all of Six Flags, not just Great Adventure, and it covers a wide variety of topics and audiences. You can't conclude much by focusing on that one aspect.
  20. Six Flags has done this for years, sharing employees between parks. NJ employees are even sometimes sent the other way to SFNE and SFA depending on what the demand and supply for employees is for the week/weekend. It just gets worse each year. I believe they had to fly in workers from their Texas parks this year.
