this is the link to the article about a man with one arm sewing six flags great adventure because "Chris Latorre of Clayton contends he felt “shame and embarrassment” after being ordered to leave his seat on the Nitro ride during an October 2012 visit to the Jackson attraction." well okay you are sewing the park because they didnt want you to die on the ride because you didnt have the right safety requirments. He is also sewing because they didnt give him his ticket refund. and i thought all adults were mature.

i wonder what will take its place in the future.

im not sure why the are counting the wasteland as new for this year.

the log flume is probably the last ride to ever leave the park. buti think Kristin cares about the parks history. Maybe they had to get rid of rolling thunder because it was unsafe. anyone else remember the rotting wood incident? maybe that was unfixable.

But park President John Fitzgerald said Six Flags spent two years investing in family-friendly attractions, like the 24-story swing ride called Sky Screamer in 2012, or the latest attraction, Safari Off Road Adventure.

“I do sympathize with them,” said Fitzgerald. “We do need to have more things for people to ride together and that’s what we plan on putting into the Rolling Thunder area.”

After hearing Fitzgerald say this, it makes me feel better about Rolling Thunder leaving. He is sad about it meaning he didnt want to do it and he is already saying in the years to come, better rides for thrills and families will take Rolling Thunder. I hope this makes everyone happier!

could they sell pieces of rolling thunder to the fans of the ride? Just like small pieces of track or wood. i think its a good idea and they could make a little money in the process. It would be nice to own a piece of great adventure history.

I'm saddened by this news. RT was probably the most exhilarating ride at SFGA.

I am in line for my last ride on rolling thunder, got my two older kids with me, beautiful weather. Wish it want the last ride, but a good way to remember it if it is.

co-workers for six flags are extremely rude, compared to cedar fairs and disney. I was so disappointed when i was reading this forum. Every guest at that park- especially the loyal, hard-core fans that would give their life for the park- deserves respect. I dont understand why John or Kristin didnt want to explain the reasons of getting rid of rolling thunder. I hope future developments make up for this senseless decision.

RT leaving doesn't make the park better. I know why they did it(but can't share unfortunately), but while the park may get something there in a few years, the park has taken a hit for the present.

 

You're young(as am I), you don't have the experience that most of the members here have with it. You can't truly know what they're feeling unless you've had the experiences with this ride that they have.

can you message me why? future ride? undafe? i will feel better if i know the true reason.

and i'll have you know six flags is making great adventure better. but people cant getover the fact that rolling thunder is going.

you often seem to miss the point or blatantly mischaracterize.... Why are some coasters designated historic landmarks by ACEif it was not important? I think rolling thunder is nj's oldest wooden coaster, that means something

 

If you read the comments on the petition a lot of people are pissed off. Mark my words this will have longstanding ramifications, the petition will never go away. At some point the press will ask about it.

i am saying getting sad about a rollercoaster is fine and always do it when they leave.

and to me, getting sentimental over a roller coaster is normal.

Dear Friends of ROLLING THUNDER,

I am writing to thank you all for your support in signing our petition to keep Rolling Thunder rolling. Unfortunately it seems that we have lost the fight. While 500+ signatures is something I am very proud of, it really isn’t enough to convince Six Flags to change their mind about their crappy decision. If only we had more time…nonetheless I am happy that we tried.

I tried to make phone contact with Six Flags all week—every time I mentioned the words “Rolling Thunder” I was either put on hold indefinitely, transferred to a generic voicemail or hung up on completely. I tried calling Great Adventure and also both corporate offices: in NY and TX and got similar responses. Finally a woman named Margaret in the Six Flags Great Adventure guest relations was chosen to return my inquiries—a very bad choice on their part. Speaking with Margaret was a revelation. Some of the things she said which will stay with me were "I can't imagine how anyone could get sentimental about a roller coaster" and also "Six Flags is only in business to make money.” She was very patronizing to me and told me that ALL businesses feel this way, which I absolutely refuse to accept. Margaret would not let me speak with anyone higher up (her superiors were all conveniently on vacation or sick leave) and eventually hung up on me. Apparently, Great Adventure’s old slogan “We care about you” no longer applies. She also said that their minds are made up and there is nothing that can be done—that they are eagerly waiting to knock Rolling Thunder down Monday morning. This is very disappointing for me to see the true colors of Six Flag Great Adventure and its unwillingness to listen to opinions of their long-time customers. How sad.

If you can, get out there today and make your last wonderful memories on Rolling Thunder before it is gone forever—bring the tissues and have a good cleansing cry. I will continue to enjoy visiting this wonderful website to remember Rolling Thunder, the old Great Adventure, as it slowly seems to be disappearing. Keep all the good memories in your heart! i cant belive how much of a bitch Margret was. (excuse my language, nothing else to call her) and i think it wasnt the entire management team that felt this way. I think Kristin is very nice and is a trueGreat Adventure person. John on the other hand, not so sure. But i think the Six Flags company is not making Great Adventure worse. In fact its making it better! i love the our parkis art of the six flags chain! anyways Margret is rude and should get fired.

They should keep it open for frightfest, run it backwards. gives them time to reconsider and give a more open response to the community.

i think the park itself decides when they want to start. Either because dorney start the 13th (we need to compete with them) or they just decided to make it longer. 7 weeks!

i didnt know they ever ran the car backwards. I was hoping they would do that this year to rolling thunder because these rumors were going around a long timeago. i was hoping it would go out of the park with good memories not its norma self. that make sense?

sorry but rolling thunder kinda has to go, it is old and umpopular. I bet if this petition gets passed, everyone will ride it alot the rest of the season but when 2014 comes around, noone will care about it.

 

 

Yes, there have been children's rides added to the park. However parents do not want to bring children to the park because the parents do not like the park and have nothing to do themselves. The rowdy teenagers also make the atmosphere inappropriate for children and unpleasant for adults.

 

yes people are a little annoying at the park (annoying imature, but sometimes funny kids) but that shouldnt stop them from going

I wonder if they will put any ads at Zumanjaro.

i dont think they can based on how the cars are designed. but im sure they will fing a way.

six flags does overdue the ads though. but the ads on el toro are clever how they made the trains look like cars.
