The Future of the Great Adventure History Website and Forums
jollyroger replied to GAcoaster's topic in Site Information
With Facebook compared to Discord, you can have topics similar to the forums on discord, and you can search for stuff, I like the GAH forums more too, but just would be nice to keep the GAH forums going in some sort of capacity. -
The Future of the Great Adventure History Website and Forums

Possibly we could try to restart the forums to something free to run like a Discord or a Facebook group and have the website direct you there, it could be an alternative if the forums has to go. -
It would make sense to be Zamperla as they did buy in bulk, but it is strange the inspection list claims Rideworks, it is also built different, more the size of a Midi? The Zamperla's seem to have gates that locked, Great Adventure's you lift and open. Maybe a partnership like Wonder Woman is with Zamperla and Soriani? Although a little tea cup ride would be a strange model to do that with.

Question about the spotlight: What made this ride labeled as Zamperla on here? The NJ inspection list labels it as Rideworks, and Drummer Boy at Michigan's Adventure always seems to be known as a Rideworks, and is built just like this one that was at Great Adventure. I do see it's on a Zamperla advertisement on the spotlight though, but still odd that could be Rideworks in some sort of way.

Maybe its referring to the cars were removed. and it's just posted late, you'd think the wheel would need a paint job too, and it would be easier without the cars.

Not soaked you say? I've sat in the front of the boat and got absolutely soaked on this before, multiple times. The final drop is fine, it's just a random area before you go past the Off-Road Adventure Queue, it just hits a spot of water and pours over the boat. Between that, massive lines when the weather is ok, and them squeezing more people on your boat (when you already have 3) it's rare to ride their flume much. Coal Cracker all the way, that's been the superior flume for me. Though I do really want them to restore the log flume, I'd choose Skyway and Mine Train to stay any day.

Eh, Flying Turns may not have as much of a moisture problem, but it doesn't always open. The Mack bobsled seems to be the most reliable, example being Kings Dominion's Avalanche.

Don't know if the New England version had a different version originally or not, but that one has narration, but he sounds evil on that one, the Great Adventure one is much better and makes more sense than the New England one. Like Houdini is not a bad guy. It's interesting to know it was different its first year.

Can't always trust a Six Flags website since Mind Eraser, Rodeo and all of Thomas Town isn't on Six Flags America's website. But St. Louis has everything labeled as reopening 2023, and I feel Xcalibur rarely opens, it was closed when I went for a couple days in 2021 and 2022, might have hit it at the wrong time, but still it was middle of the summer.

jollyroger replied to 29yrswithaGApass's topic in The Future of the Park
I mean I don't know what they're doing this offseason, but as far as I know it was still standing when the park was open last, but they did board up the front. -

I prefer if they started having concerts in Northern Star again, how about the rest of the Rolling Thunder plot? -

Someone would have found out eventually, but this is the Facebook post that brought the removal to everyone's attention. Plus, there are pictures of it dismantled. American Amusement Park Museum - Posts | Facebook -
Demolition of the Conestoga Wagon Spotlight
jollyroger replied to 29yrswithaGApass's topic in Demolition Spotlights
Off Road Adventure isn't very useful anymore as of nowadays it seems anyways. When they rip this stuff down, couldn't anyone taken the sign down, that would have been at least a reminder of it, instead it got ripped down with the structure. -
Keep it Nitro and paint the whole thing pink and purple, the tubular part of the track is already pinkish, so just go with that and call it a day. Honestly the ride doesn't look that bad as is and you can't see most of it from the path, the flaking station supports, and the queue and exit railing looks bad anyways. Also give it some color changing stage style lights and party lights in the station, already has techno music, so let's go with that.

It's not just generic pop, they play some great 2000's emo rock, it's not great adventure without some Boys Like Girls, Paramore and others, but it would be nice to theme the sections and keep the regular music in just one area. Its good some areas do keep the themed music as is, like Movietown plays songs known for being in certain movies, and some movie scores.

It actually held up really well for 21 years without a repaint and most of the ride you don't see up close from the pathway, however the grey station supports and the railing look pretty terrible. Mine Train needs it first though, it seems like a much easier project too, aside from the water portion.

Yeah, it needed a renovation as it was stripped a little since the Character Cafe stuff left, but they made it really plain since the renovation it's mostly just a new floor, a nice ice cream candy look inside to match the exterior would be great. Some people may think its a big ice cream shop and not a restaurant, but you gotta match its exterior.
