  1. And this is what has annoyed me about a lot of our recent additions. “New for 2024, specifically the last few months, assuming no delays.” Having moved last year and now being within day trip distance of Holiday World, Indiana Beach, Kings Island, and Cedar Point, it’s so foreign to me that all four parks have new coasters on track to be open for opening day (assuming All American Triple Loop does actually open this year lol). I dearly love Great Adventure, but it’s tough for me to schedule trips to NJ by the time new rides open due to the fact that that’s when work generally gets busy for me and doesn’t slow down until the offseason.
  2. Sounds good, just let me know! Probably wouldn’t take me more than a day or two to set up if so, less time if I get a day off from work lol. I have no idea what BillyG means by Discord not allowing everyone to participate. It certainly does assuming you have or make an account and join the server, and we all made accounts here throughout the years.
  3. Just wanted to say that I am more than willing to help with or even run a Discord server for GAH. I’ve got some experience both moderating them and setting them up, and I would love to be able to keep in touch with this community. I think it would also make it more feasible to do some community events/park meetups if there’s interest, and I could definitely work on some ideas for us to have a bit of daily interaction. You and Harry truly created something special, and I will forever be grateful for it, whatever the future may hold. Please feel free to reach out to me if there’s any way I can help or if you want to discuss Discord as an alternative for the forums.
  4. That’s what I’m hoping for as well, and it does seem like the most reasonable option in terms of cost as well. There really isn’t much they could fit in that plot of land that would justify paying for a careful deconstruction of the tower.
  5. Pretty late on this, but they’ll certainly dismantle it rather than going with demolition. It’s far too close in proximity to Green Lantern and the path to the Golden Kingdom to send it down that way, and that’s the only narrow bit of land it’s even remotely possible to knock it into. Tokyo Dome City announced today that they’re closing Sky Flower, which was the last Intamin parachute tower after ours closed. End of an era.
  6. Can’t believe it’s been a decade. It still just doesn’t feel right getting off El Toro without heading right to Rolling Thunder for a few rides. I took this picture on the last day of operation, after my last front row ride on the coaster that made me fall in love with Great Adventure, and coasters in general.
  7. Don’t know how likely it is, but I’d love to see the museum return for the 50th anniversary. Seems like an obvious move for the park to make, but you never know with modern day Six Flags.

    Skyride

I really don’t care for this pattern of ride removals not being announced until someone asks on social media. Losing the Skyride is sad enough, but for it to just be quietly removed from the site and signage is just heartbreaking.
  9. Been a passholder/member since 2011 and I’ll be switching to a Cedar Fair pass since I’ll be about 2 hours from Kings Island and about 4 1/2 hours from Cedar Point. Sad to drop my SF pass even with the current state of the company, but it’s not gonna do me much good when I’m 3 1/2 hours away from the closest park in the chain.
  10. Yeah, I’m kind of over Six Flags at this point. I’m moving soon and I have all the love in the world for Great Adventure, but I’m honestly excited for my home park to not be run by Six Flags in its current state.
  11. M&M’s and more likely than not, the parts they’ve received from the others that have been removed. I have to imagine it’s one of the biggest maintenance nightmares in the park, if not the biggest, due to the fact that it’s the last sky ride in the chain, and one of the last ones of its kind in the world. It definitely has an expiration date, as do most rides, but I don’t see it happening within the near future unless something major happens. Parachuter’s Perch is also probably safe being that they go through the effort of theming it for HITP every year. Demolition certainly isn’t an option like Texas Chute Out due to its proximity to so many things in every direction, unless they think they can land it precisely in the employee lot next to Green Lantern. I can’t imagine maintenance is fun on it, but being an Intamin ride, I’d assume it can be overhauled if need be.
  12. I didn’t explore fully since the event itself was just in one of the old main parking lots, but there isn’t much. The double tunnel from the entrance is still there, but beyond that it’s pretty much decaying foundations, fences, etc. There’s evidence that something was there at one point, but absolutely nothing that indicates it was Jungle Habitat.
  13. Went to the old Jungle Habitat property as a vendor at Lunar Faire today. Funny to think about the fact that it was run by Warner Bros, closed partially due to competition from Great Adventure, and now we’ve got Warner Bros IPs all over the park.
  14. Just got back from a trip to Kings Island and after riding The Beast, which received a fairly hefty partial retrack earlier this year, I wish El Toro had been preserved half as well as a coaster that’s nearly 30 years older than it. The park was packed and I only got on 3 rides, but The Beast alone was worth the trip and it made me miss our own wooden giant. Hope El Toro gets the love it needs, because right now I feel a bit uneasy about its future.
  15. Went to HP last year for the first time in 7ish years and I was blown away. Was there for a Guns N’ Roses show and went to the park the day before since it was right there. It was incredibly clean and every ride was up and running. Being able to have a beer while I waited in some of the longer lines was a great bonus, considering it was something around 90 degrees that day. Great Adventure is my home park and will always be my favorite, but going to other parks makes me want better for GA sometimes.
