  1. any idea which model we will get? http://www.abc-engineering.ch/cms/upload/Flyer/PDF_Rides/2.0_ABC-Flyer-ThrillRides-EN-4p.pdf
  2. i disagree with the fines because alot of the time the rides getting "stuck" are infact just the safety features of the ride stopping it...
  3. based on the way the company has been going over the past few seasons, I am expecting a Giant Frisbee!! I am honestly excited for some new flats if that is what we get... also welcome to the site mattkopp23
  4. Anyone have some good stories about being stuck on rides? Monday night I was at the park and by luck got stuck twice in a row! First I was stuck on Bizarro with two trains in front of me. Not sure why the ride broke down, but it did, and it was fun getting stuck lol. Maintenance quickly fixed the ride and we were unloaded in the station. Immediately following that I got stuck on my next ride, King Da Ka, once again right after my ride finished. After getting off the ride I saw them do something interesting I haven't seen before. They actually launched a train from the station that is normally empty... then resumed operations with the normal station. Anyway, share some great stories!!!!
  5. I was going to make a trip to the Park on 4th of July but how bad does it really get? I want to get as much time there as possible in before I start working hence going on said Monday. Do you think it will get extremely bad?
  6. I would honestly hate to see El Toro go the route of a RMC though.
  7. Even 10, 15, 20 years down the line will something like this happen? Will we even see another Premier Era level ride?
  8. Rode today on the green side and it was such an amazing ride in my opinion. I was held upside down, in superman, upside down superman, and flipped all within 40 seconds!
  9. Only issue I had was with getting the bag on Joker's line... the security guard who was standing at the line and the regular employee couldn't decide if it was allowed. The employee said no but then the guard told them how it is a medical bag... in the end they let me through with it.
  10. Yup, no one can be blamed for this... it is just something that happens in this industry.
  11. Guess I won't be riding it for at least a few weeks as this was my last free weekend for a while. Next week is studying for finals in school and the following week are finals themselves so I wont be able to go any time soon. Luckily my school ends early this year so I might be able to get there by mid June and hopefully during work and school hours the park will be decently empty...
  12. I might head to the park tomorrow if I can get a friend or two to tag along... How bad do you think lines will be tomorrow?
  13. I hope they have another Season Pass only date as both yesterday and today they experienced large periods of downtime... I know that once it's open to general public the line will be huge. Maybe they can do some ert one night for it? I just hope I get a chance to ride it this year as I was so close today, maybe about 5 cars from boarding.
  14. Overview: Went to the park today with school for a end of year field trip. When we arrived at 10:00 the park entrance was full with people from schools and other groups. We got in the park around 10:20. Overall the lines were decently short today, longest being 1 hour for Nitro. Besides that all were 30 minutes or less. I was with a group of 4 including me, who stayed together the whole time. Once again I realized how difficult it is to get through the park with people who don't enjoy coasters or know the park. I still had fun though as we are all good friends and had a good time. Just wish we took advantage of lines and got on more rides. Summary of JOKER issues: Throughout the day the Joker ride was testing on and off, and finally opened up around mid-day. I saw it running and saw how short the line was due to the Season Pass only rule. My group I was about to enter the line but the employee who watches over lines wouldn't let me go with my medical bag. While I was talking to them the ride got stuck as seen in my first photo. I walked over and got a snack from the stand right there and watched to see how long it would take the ride to be operating again. Seeing that many people were leaving the line I then got on line in hopes of it opening again. This time there was a security guard there as well as the employee. The security guard let me on with my bag. The ride continued to get stuck every few rides. By the time I was about 6 rides from boarding it had stopped operation completely. They were testing train after train, all of which got stuck in the same spot. After another 15 or so minutes they stopped testing and cleared the line. Didn't have time to wait and watch them work on the ride but that would of been cool as the station is so visible from off the ride. Here are some pics ---> https://imgur.com/a/8tYHY 10:00 - 11:00 - Arrived at the park - Got in line - Got into the park around 10:15 - Ran immediately to Superman as one of the members of my group had never been on a ride and wanted to try that first - After Superman entered the Green Lantern line 11:00 - 12:00 - Got on Green Lantern - Walked to Seafari cut-through and then went to El Toro - Waited and rode El Toro ( row 3 ) - Exited El Toro and made our way towards Log Flume 12:00 - 1:00 - Log Flume was closed so we went to Best of the West for lunch - After lunch Log Flume had just opened so we went on it - After the Flume we rode the skyway to other side of park - We got off the SkyWay and walked over to Nitro - Got on the Nitro line 1:00 - 2:00 - Waited for and rode Nitro 2:00 - 3:00 - Got some snacks by Nitro - After Nitro we walked back to the Ferris Wheel and rode it as others in the group wanted to - Side Note... Ferris Wheel is a very long ride! - After the Ferris Wheel we walked over towards Joker 3:00 - 4:20 - We sat for a little and discussed where to go next, we ended up just sitting for a little - at around 3:20 I made my way over to Joker ride as they were just going to play games. - The ride kept getting stuck and the issue discussed above occured - Finally at around 4:20 the line was cleared and I left the park Ride Totals: Superman Green Lantern El Toro Log Flume Skyway Nitro Ferris Wheel (almost Joker...)
  15. Just got home from the park and can confirm Joker did go down... I was about to enter the line but the employee who watches over lines wouldn't let me go with my medical bag. While I was talking to them the ride got stuck as seen in my first photo. I walked over and got a snack from the stand right there and watched to see how long it would take the ride to be operating again. 16. Does anyone know what the requirements for getting a medical approved bag are? I have really bad allergies to various foods and in the past years they have gotten worse... I always need to carry with me allergy medications and other related items. I am going to start needing to bring my own food to the park as most things there give me a reaction. How do I go about this? Do I get a note from a doctor? What do I need to do?
  17. I was thinking about things I would do if I ran the park and one idea came up. Would it be possible for them to change or add to Kingda Ka? With the new PolerCoaster coming soon, Kingda Ka will be out of records... What if the park were to add to it... build up a little more... I know that is extremely unlikely and won't happen, but is it physically possible?
  18. In my opinion I think they are good but not the way we have them... Great Adventure is not the best at theming imo which plays into this. If they had rides named after related superheros in a certain area, and themed it to that, I think that it would of worked well. I do not like having the superhero rides just sprinkled around, and though they are clustered, the theming does not reflect that.
  19. Today was probably one of, if not, the best day I have had at the park despite some disappointing things. I do not remember the exact times I was doing everything but I remember the order, so I am just going to group it into approximate time periods. I went to the park from about 11:30AM and left just after 8:00PM. Overview As I said, I got to the park at around 11:30AM. First thing we did (group of 3, including myself) was go and check what rides were open. Due to the winds, many of the taller rides were closed at the beginning of the day, such as King Da Ka, the Skyline, Skyscreamer, Zumanjaro. The only other down to today was that for some reason many stands could not give water in the middle of the day... I am not sure why but I ended up just buying bottles of water. There were also rides that were closed im going to assume because of them not being as popular and the park being understaffed as with the beginning of every season. The Dark Night I believe was closed all day, but I am not sure so dont quote me on that. Runaway Train ran on and off throughout the day, sometimes the train sat right past the station empty and other times it was running. There were also many stands closed, once again I assume due to being understaffed at the moment. As the day progressed more rides opened up and the day became much better. The park was not packed but not empty today.. short lines all around. Alot of younger children with parents. 11:30 - 12:30 The first thing we did when getting to the park was checking what rides were open, seeing that many were not running, we went towards El Toro. When we got to El Toro there was almost no wait, it had to be less that 15 minutes. Maybe 8 or so, but not over 15. We sat in the bull car which surprised me as I normally find El Toro slightly jerky but this car was very smooth. Then after getting off El Toro we decided what we were going to do next. We walked over to Johnny Rockets by the main gate but it was closed. We walked over towards Nitro. Along the way, I stopped and tried the Ladder Climb game and lost as expected. This hour ended with the shortest lines in the entire park, the bathrooms! 12:30 - 1:30 After using the bathroom we went to Nitro which again like El Toro had a really short wait time. We were able to get on in probably about 20 or so minutes, as the line was just about 1 or 2 rows past the stairs. After getting off Nitro, we went back to the Johnny Rockets and got something to eat. I got the chicken strip meal that comes with a dining pass. Everything tasted good but ended up giving me a stomach ache. Then after eating we started to head towards Superman. 1:30 - 2:30 Superman line was decently short, maybe 15 minutes or so. Superman as always gave me nausea that instantly subsided upon reaching the station and being placed upright instead of in the "superman" position. We skipped Green Lantern because of the seats hurting. After this we stopped at Dippin Dots for out snack, and walked with the snack to Kingda Ka. Either it had just opened, or broken down, but for whatever reason the Kingda Ka line was incredibly short. I think it is because signs earlier in the day had said it was closed, so nobody went into that section of the park as Zumanjaro was "closed" as well. Went on Kingda Ka in the orange car which was alright, not too bumpy but not as smooth as I thought it was. 2:30 - 3:30 We then headed towards Bizarro. Once we got there Bizarro had a decent wait considering how short other lines were. It was about 6 or 7 rows from the stairs, maybe a little more. The line didnt take long, but compared to other rides, it was long for Bizarro. The ride was smooth, fire and mist/smoke were off, but all in all a good ride. After getting off of Bizarro, my stomach hit me instantly, so I bought a Pepto Bismol at the shop near the Safari entrance. We began to walk back towards the area where the paths to Frontier Aventures, Plaza del Carnival, and The Golden Kingdom meet. Here I attempted to take my Pepto but dropped it ( lol ) and had to buy another. After this we decided to ride Safari and headed back towards its entrance. Safari In total, the Safari took only 1.5 hours including wait times... Our driver went through very quickly, not stopping much. I am not sure if maybe some animals are not out yet, or if we just were not luck but the tour seemed lacking today for some reason. I felt like we missed some of the animals that are normally seen. Our guide was good, made some jokes about the animals, very informative and entertaining. 4:30 - 5:30 After getting off of the Safari, we walked back towards the area where the paths meet. We went to El Toro to ride it a second time, and it had a longer wait. Probably about 25-30 minutes if I recall. This time we were in the Kia car which was alot more bumpy and knocked me around a bit more. At the side of the area where the car waits for the next one to leave the station were the test dummies. One of them had a painted caricature on its face which was very funny to see. After getting off two people in our group got their dinner and we headed to Kingda Ka. 5:30 - 6:30 Got on Kingda Ka decently quick. This time I was not in the Orange car and it was amazingly smoother for some reason. Not sure why. After getting off Kingda Ka we walked across the park over to where Nitro is but stopping in the Carnival section for a few games and a short break. Once again, didn't win anything but had a fun time. We also stopped at Skull Mountain on our way across which had a medium sized line but stacked well and was very quick. 6:30 - 7:30 This time Nitro seemed to have a longer line than last time, taking a few more minutes but still decently short for Nitro. This time the ride was much smoother to me and I didnt feel a single bump the entire time. The car glided across the tracks as if it were new. The line was short enough that we actually rode it again, waiting only two trains to get on the second time! The second time it was not bumpy but didnt feel like it was gliding as much, but rather just felt normal. 7:30 - 8:15 We ran over to Kingda Ka to try and get one last night-time ride. One person walking out of that part of the park said that they wouldn't go, it just broke down, but we still went. Knowing Kingda Ka it would probably be tested once or twice, and then work again. We were right and thanks to the break down the line was extremely short. Once again I was not in the orange car and it was very smooth. I dont know why but I just love the ride at night, looking around for the short second or two at the top is amazing. After getting off we walked back to the main entrance to leave, and I ended up getting my dinner with about a minute before dinner ends. I ate it on the walk out of the park and this time it was much better and didnt hurt my stomach. Coaster Counts: Nitro - 3 Kingda Ka - 3 El Toro - 2 Superman - 1 Safari - 1 Bizarro - 1 Skull Mountain - 1
  20. Ogolo the thing is many people need the pass... for example I quite literally cant stand for 1 hour in a line... Yes I can, but once I start walking again my knee will buckle and give out every other step. And also I think its important to note the pass doesn't cut down the line time... it just means you can sit while you wait rather than standing for the time.
  21. I know the doctors note is required... im just curious how strict they are with the ADA part of it... I have never looked into ADA because my injury is supposedly non-permanent and should heal with the second round of Physical Therapy (lol PT didnt work first time... just made it worse...)
  22. I was wondering what the "actual" requirements for a Attraction Access Pass are... I would like to get one as I have bad knees and quite literally cant stand in a line. If I do, then my knees give out, click, lock, and basically stop working altogether. I wanted to get the pass so that I could still enjoy the park without my knees hurting. My issue is that the Park's site says that you need to have a note from a doctor saying its an ADA or state eligible injury. I don't have an ADA or state card for my injury but it is still severe... I am now starting a second round of Physical Therapy, they did MRI's looking for bone deformities and tumors (which luckily came back clear) but I still am in severe knee pain. How strict are they on the ADA aspect of getting a pass? I really would appreciate being to get one as my knees get to the point where even if I take some Advil before going to the park, I have unbearable pain within an hour or two... (edited for spelling)
  23. it was crazy. just leaving the parking lot took as long as most lines there lol.
  24. It was all in all a pretty good day at the park, the only down side is we probably spent more time in the car than in the park itself. Here is a basic run down of what we did using some estimating of times. Overview : The park was decently crowded yesterday, which took away form the experience a little bit. But I cant complain, because I went a Saturday night during fright fest. By the time we had gotten there, cars were being parked in the Hurricane Harbor parking lot. You would then have to walk back to the parks main gates. Once in the park, we had a good time and got on a decent amount of rides given how long we were there. I was in a group of 4 people, and it worked out very well. I felt that the park was really lacking this year in the fright fest area. they had the sculpture/statue which was awesome, but they didnt have a lot of scare actors roaming the general park. In the past it seemed alot more eerie and fun. Maybe im just getting older though, and it is less entertaining to me now than it was in the past. (all times are in EDT) 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm : left my house to go to the park took about 60 min with some traffic to reach Jackson outlets took another 30-60 min just to get into the park was directed to the Hurricane Harbor parking lot finally by 7:30 we were parked 7:30 pm - 8 pm : made our way to the park went through security and main entrance 8 pm - 8:30 pm : half of our group (those with dining on card) went to eat before they closed down the meals for the night the other half went to ride information as one member of our group needed an Access Pass we met up at the Dippin Dots near ride information at 8:30 ish 8:30 pm - 9 pm : we went to Nitro first, and apparently the ride ops dont know how their own system works... the entrance worker wrote a 15 minute wait on the access paper thing after 15 minutes of walking sitting and eating snacks, we went to the exit rode Nitro, dont remember the train we were on, but it was surprisingly smooth 9 pm - 9:45 pm : next we headed to Sky Screamer the attendant wrote down a 45 minute wait which seemed accurate and matched the six flags app we joked around and rode a bunch of kiddie rides for the time rode black beards once then buccaneer then air jumbo because why not then headed back to Sky Screamer 9:45 pm - 10:00 pm rode sky screamer which was better at night, but still not that good imo since it was fright fest that added to it slightly after that we made our way over to Superman 10:00 pm - 11:00 pm got to superman and asked ride attendant wait time i dont remember the specific time but it was long we were deciding what to do walked over to the green lantern entrance and asked there then : WE WERE SAVED BY A MAN WHO IS AMAZING some random guy with children had to leave the park because of the crowds and his children being scared his group of people (about 10 people) had two exit passes from a ride they got stuck on he gave us the exit passes and i was so confused at what was happening after that we made our way back to superman we went through the exit and got on in about 15 minutes 11:00 pm - 11:30 pm after getting off of superman, we went to el toro rode on el toro once in back row really good ride and there was an awesome attendant there i asked him about the pain job of the trains and we jokingly agreed they are the new Genetically Modified Bulls after getting off we left the park 11:30 pm - 12:30 am it took about an hour to get out of the parking lot12:30 am - 1:00 am traffic on the one road that leads away from the park was horrible, took about 30 min to move about 3 miles! the cause of traffic was a mix of the park closing soon and an accident occurred because of the traffic by 1 am, we were out of the traffic 1:00 am - 1:30 am finally at around 1:30 am i got home despite being in the car for long periods of time it was actually a great day at the park RIDES OVERVIEW : Nitro x 1 Superman x 1 El Toro x 1 Sky Screamer x 1 Black Beards x 1 Air Jumbo x 1 Buccaneer x 1
