Here's the thing that makes me worried about the possibility of a new coaster in the future. Six Flags is trying to get RMC Hybrids in every park, but we already have El Toro, so the best we'd get if anything would be a watered down version of Twisted Cyclone (which is the worst RMC). A T-Rex would be perfect as the park gets a lot of attendance already, however, knowing Six Flags, they won't do it. That leaves us with a Raptor, which would create capacity nightmares as our park is sandwich'd in between NYC and Philly, but I'd be able to forgive that if Six Flags didn't give us a clone, because knowing them they absolutely will. (probably themed to wonder woman as well, killing two birds with one stone)
RMC seems to be the only source of Six Flags coasters at this point, not that it's a bad thing (Iron Rattler and Wicked Cyclone are amazing examples of good RMCs) but every year the RMCs get worse. The last two RMC Hybrids Six Flags put in are currently ranked the two worst the company has ever produced (Joker, Twisted Cyclone).
Besides that, and this has probably been said many times, but the park doesn't get as much love. It isn't as clean, some parts of the park look like they're falling apart, it kind of just needs work with appearance.

I'm fine with cubbies honestly. When going to other parks I've never had/witnessed issues with people having their personal belongings stolen. It wouldn't even be the parks responsibility if anything were to be stolen, since people are putting their belongings in willingly.
The whole locker issue has gotten to the point where it's hard for me to be in any convenient situation when going to GAdv. Paying for lockers isn't worth it, and often times most people either don't have enough money or don't have exact change. It's appalling that in either of those situations there is no other option but have someone hold onto your belongings while riding.
With all this being said, I've had my wallet and phone in loose pockets on Ka and El Toro and have never been confronted by ride ops or have had them fly out. In my opinion I hope Six Flags makes some sort of change that can make spending a day at the park more convenient while keeping guests safe.
[edited my original post because alot of the information was incorrect]

When it comes to an RMC Hybrid like Wicked Cyclone or Iron Rattler, unfortunately it won't happen at GAdv, mainly because we have El Toro, one the worlds best woodies. Now with that being said, since our park will kind of be excluded from the whole RMC Hybrid club in the SF chain, it'd only make sense for Six Flags to repay us with a custom T Rex. I don't want a Raptor to come to the park. Now considering Great Adventure has been fairly smart with their additions over the past few years (Sky Screamer, Joker, Justice League, and Cyborg are all really good additions in my opinion) I'm hoping that we get an insane coaster for either 2019 or 2020. Almost every SF park has had a chance to shine being "the park that gets the RMC" in past years. Hopefully we get that spotlight sometime in the near future.

Honestly not sure especially at this point of the season. I'm predicting either a thrill/family ride, or a new coaster. It may have only been three years since the Joker, but it only took two years for MM to get Full Throttle and TC, same with WC and the Joker at SFNE. Six Flags has become unpredictable to the point where you could post literally anything in a thread like this and it could be possible.

Wish we would have got what Magic Mountain Got. Open 365 days a year.
Great Adventure could use a Family or Dueling Wooden Coaster.
They got the year round addition for a reason, it's always sunny there lmao
Of course we could use certain coasters but flats are a big priority.
-
I'm trilled with this addition, despite me constantly rooting a for a T Rex. There's three reasons why I think this was a good move by Great Adventure:
- We have always complained about needing more flats, and this is not only a flat but a one of a kind flat (on the east coast atleast)
- This is a fairly thrilling attraction that will do a good job at reviving a fairly dead section in the park.
- It's not a Skywarp, and the issue with getting a Skywarp would be that Six Flags would've called it a coaster. Like I stated before, we need flats, not coasters.
-
Skywarp was too similar to El Diablo, and IMO based on the animations would be a worse ride experience as well (10ft shorter, less hangtime moments). This is a very unique, original ride that even as a bystander should be fun to look at. Every year people complain about flats and now we have a new, original one in a section that badly needs another addition.
Every year I will be a bit bummed until we finally get some kind of RMC, but each addition we have received the last few years has filled a need.
This. As someone who really wants a new coaster, I'm THRILLED with this addition. We needed flats and we have a one of a kind flat that will bring lots of attention to a relatively dead section of the park.

Who is getting excited? Tomorrow is announcement eve!
I should be, but considering it's basically obvious what we are getting (cyborg themed skywarp) I'm not really hyped about it. I'd rather be surprised you know?
-
Easily better than all RMC's? I mean, that's subjective, but Wicked Cyclone is right there with El Toro as my favorite of 157 coasters. It wouldn't surprise me if one of the RMC's would surpass Toro on my list. RMC's have equally as incredible airtime plus a more diverse range of elements. Their products are absolutely top quality.
This is true but RMCs have new ride technology backing them up, Toro doesn't.
-
At this point if the park were to recieve an RMC it'd be a Raptor or T-Rex model (for 2019 and 2020) as El Toro is listed as one of RMCs coasters on the RMC website already, plus El Toro easily trumps all RMCs and maybe even all wooden coasters in the world right now.
-
who has coasters over 300' tall??
Many Cedar Fair parks lmao
-
Off topic question, if an RMC that had inversions were to come to the park, would there have to be over the shoulder restraints due to NJ law?
-
That's true. I could end up riding it and enjoying it. But like others have said it's very similar to El Diablo.
That's the main issue I as well as many others have with it, it's too much like El Diablo and we'd be much better off with a Zamperla Giant Discovery and a few flat ride additions instead.
-
I really hope we get surprised with something amazing but I doubt that's gonna happen.
Same, but maybe the Skywarp won't be too bad of an addition if we end up getting it next year. Perhaps if it's put in the Old Country section it would do a good job at reviving that area of the park.
-
I'm guessing at this point we'll see a Skywarp themed to Cyborg come next Thursday. I'll be shocked if that's not the case.
-
Seeing red could be talking about the Flash. Star Labs is featured in the TV Flash
I don't see the point in having a Flash themed ride when the line cutting system of Six Flags is already themed to the Flash lmao
-
I'm not sure if you guys noticed this at all, or if I'm digging up another old discussion, but we all have this to consider:
Pretty much if you call Six Flags Great Adventure and dial the extension "3992" you get that message.
They mention the words "accelerometer" and "gyroscopes". This literally screams a mack spinning coaster. Time Traveler may have beat them to it, but Six Flags is capable of pretty much anything at this point.
-
I'm sure Six Flags knew about it. I would find it very hard to believe that people in the industry don't know even a little something about what other parks are getting. Especially if two different parks are buying from the same manufacture and they both go "I want a record breaker in 2018" the manufacture cant promise them both the most loops or highest version of the same ride. Id think a legal issue would come to play at that point
I guess with that we'll probably end up getting disappointed yet again with El Diablo 2.0. What a shame.

It was announced a week ago on NRCD
Possibility still stands.
-
Sure there is, Silver Dollar City just announced it and theirs blows this one out of the water
That was announced not even 24 hours ago. I'm fairly certain GAdv had no idea about this announcement prior to it actually happening.
-
This isn't necessarily true. Referring to the 2015 agendas, Joker wasn't proposed until two weeks after it was announced to the public.
As of now I really have no idea what we are getting. I'm hoping they throw us a curveball and give us something out of left field.
This. I'd rather have no idea what we are getting than having this happen:
1.) Expect Garbage
2.) Get Garbage
Happened with 2015 and 2016, might happen this year as well.
-
I find that would be a really good fit, but pretending the "worlds First" applies to type of ride, how is that a worlds first? Now the teasers in the park point to a cyborg themed ride. That would be the worlds first cyborg ride
There's no other ride like that. The seats do spins for the rides entirety. It's a worlds first.
-
I think people are also forgetting that this is a definite possibility.

At this point, I'm hoping a new coaster won't happen for awhile and here's why. Six Flags does seem to be cheaping out, but this is mainly because of the focus being on the parks opening overseas. If we were to get a coaster next year or the year after, chances are it would either end up being a raptor clone (capacity nightmare and lacks originality, as does the rest of our parks coasters almost) or something along the lines of Twisted Cyclone (too short of a ride to even enjoy, the elements themselves are too common on other RMCs). Having something like Medusa Steel Coaster on the other side of the park by Nitro and Batman would be insane and would make our lineup amazing, and I think there still is space for an addition of that caliber in that area. Correct me if I'm wrong obviously, I'm not even sure how big the area is to be honest.
