I know the app isn't always accurate (and I'm not at the park to see if it is) but Green Lantern is showing a wait time of 115 minutes, the longest line in the entire park. If enough people like the ride enough to wait almost 2 hours for it, I feel like Six Flags probably wouldn't want to spend the money to change it from a standup coaster.

That's the longest I've heard of a line for Green Lantern. I doubt Six Flags will change Green Lantern from a stand up to a sit down as lines for it are usually around a half hour on a normal day.

I think it might be more of a winter maintenance thing.  Like they wouldn't have enough time/man power to work on all the trains between candy lane and the opening of the park. They jump on what's closed for the season now and then work on what's still running later.  Two years ago when I first went to Candy lane was the first year they had coasters open and Wildcat only had 1 train.  I asked a ride op the reason for 1 train and they said the other train was getting the winter maintenance started.  One train operation was pretty brutal as far as waiting.

Id like to see Great Bear, Comet and Lightning Racers open.  They are all in areas of the park that are open for the event, but at that point it be like a fully operational park besides the Intamin coasters

Same reason why Superman and Green Lantern run only one train and nitro runs 2 for Holiday in the Park because of winter maintenance. Luckily Great Adventure does a good job dispatching trains regardless of how many trains are available. Hersheypark can be slow with operations. I do agree with seeing Great Bear, Lightning Racer, and Comet running during Candy Lane but they're probably not open because of maintenance or staffing. Unfortunately, the Intamins aren't able to run in the colder weather so I doubt they'll run; same reason why El Toro and Kingda Ka aren't open for HITP.

Yeah, they added it to the ride lineup a few months ago. I would also like to see Lightning Racer open.

It doesn't make sense why they'd open Wildcat for Candy Lane but not Lightning Racer especially if GCI built all three of them. They should also open Great Bear for Candy Lane because it's a B&M and Great Adventure runs four B&Ms during Holiday in the Park.

  4. I went on Saturday, and while the park was crowded, it wasn't crowded where you can't do much. Crowds were a bit rowdy though. The longest line when I went was Laff Track which had a full queue, but I didn't wait for it because the theming effects were off. Longest line I did wait for was Fahrenheit and Great Bear, both had a half hour line. Also, when I rode Comet, some old guy operating the ride got mad at me for enjoying it which I find stupid.

I don't understand why Sundays in October are usually so empty even when the weather is nice. Saturdays seem more crowded and I know Sundays are usually less crowded than a Saturday but not to the point where it's 0 - 10 minute waits on a Sunday vs 20 - 45 minute waits on a Saturday.

People have school and work on Monday and the lack of scare mazes, actors, and shows hurts attendance more. Saturday crowds in the fall are comparable to average weekday crowds in the summer for both Hersheypark and Great Adventure if wait times average 20-45 minutes.

I'm glad I read this.  There goes Dorney.  I'm not up to dealing with a Saturday crowd.

I'm assuming Dorney's Saturday crowds aren't as bad as Great Adventure's however Dorney has slow operations so crowds would feel similar.

It seems like everyone's attendance has been off this year. Disney just opened up all but the last couple of Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party dates to cast discounts. Usually they only give CMs a discount on the September dates, but now they are offering the discount through October 26th. They've only sold out one or two dates this year and that came much later than normal. Busch Gardens Tampa is offering any two nights of Howl-O-Scream for $49.95. There are deals everywhere but I think people are a little cautious between fear and caution about spending.

If crowds for Halloween events are lower than normal, maybe some people have heard about the high crowds they get and go on another day.

Some bad news, Dorney just sent emails saying that all the remaining operating days will be bring a friend discount days for SP holders. This will likely make the remaining Haunt nights more crowded.

I guess they're trying to find ways to get attendance levels for Haunt and the dry park higher. They should also add Haunt on Sundays to better compete with Great Adventure.

  8. ^ Tom DeLonge because I think Matt Skiba's voice sounds too similar to Mark Hoppus. Sadly, Tom's high pitched voice got messed up badly when he split the band to form Angels and Airwaves in 2005, and nowadays, he makes up a lot of alien theories for NASA.

Gibson Les Paul or Fender Stratacaster?

  9. I personally don't like the Ghoul Repellent necklaces. It takes away the purpose of Haunt in which you're supposed to get scared by scare zombies throughout the park. What they should do is do remove the repellents and do something like Great Adventure does where the kids areas remain open and have areas where mostly families like to spend be scare free zones.

Sundays are a better bet during Fright Fest if you're looking for shorter lines and to appreciate the ambiance.

The only downside is the lack of Corvyx concerts and for me, school the next day. Luckily the maze lines were mostly short. This makes me wonder, how crowded can it be if it rains during Fright Fest?

We waited almost an hour for Bizarro.

When we went to Joker it might have been 20 minutes but that was early.  We didn't go back to s=Superman but Nitro and Batman had long lines but the time we got to them

Even though an hour line for Bizarro isn't worth waiting, hopefully this can show that Bizarro shouldn't be removed from the park as people like to rumor about. The Joker had an hour and a half line, Nitro had half its switchbacks filled (30-45 minutes), Batman's line was up to the garden (45 minutes), and El Toro had its first switchbacks filled when I finished my 6 ride marathon which is only 20-30 minutes. I can guarantee Superman, Green Lantern, and Kingda Ka had long lines too even though the app reported 30 minutes, 10 minutes, and temporarily closed respectively. The app also said Bizarro had a 20 minute wait which I still consider a long line for it. As Bizarro is a station wait 90% of the time, anything longer than a station wait is what I consider a long line for it.

If the app is accurate, it looks like Friday nights are no longer low crowd times to visit. Skull Mountain 55 minutes, Joker 80 minutes, Batman, Superman and Nitro 70 minutes.

At least the mazes except for Cell Block 6 had walk-ons today. Bizarro had no line as usual today as well.

  13. So my mom is trying to take me to Hersheypark in the Dark on my birthday which is on a Saturday. This is because the ticket prices are cheap. I'm not sure how crowds will be like there for a Saturday but I hope the park is dead as they don't do scare actors, mazes, and shows. Any tips or advice?

I thought the same thing. I thought I was going to run through the park in my hour and a half but the park was not as empty as I thought. So when Fright Fest was going to start I assume it was going to/did fill up

Fright Fest on weeknights can be a hit or miss crowd wise. Some days it can be dead while other days such as last year's preview night the park was crowded. Usually the crowded weeknights are because of religious holidays.

Park was Packed today. Cars were out to the first light before the park on 537. All food Lines were 10-25 deep. A ton of rides closed( Nitro, Congo Rapids, Log Flume and El Toro just to name a few) Nitro was testing at 14:00.

How can it be crowded on a Thursday? I'm thinking it's because of Rosh Hashanah, and Lakewood and a further extent, Cherry Hill have a large Jewish population. Unfortunately I won't be able to go this weekend anymore but hopefully the park is not crowded when I go next Friday.
