  1. So I'll be heading up there the 29th-31st. How has attendance been? (point being, should I spring the extra $$$ for Flash Passes for rides and/or mazes)
  2. I'm with you on that. Every time I've done Green Lantern .... I have to make sure my balls are still intact afterwards
  3. What I've found interesting about Shockwave was that it was in a roundabout way .... a B&M Coaster. Well .... Walter Bolliger & Claude Mabillard did design it; Giovanola built it and Intamin installed it. Which does lead to a great "what if" .... what if Walter & Claude stayed with Giovanola or went to work directly for Intamin? Anyhow, from looking at where Shockwave was relative to the current Great Adventure layout; the queue line went roughly where Dare Devil Dive is to where the entrance is for the Go Karts?
  4. GACoaster, Just out of idle curiosity, what year did Great Adventure have it's highest attendance numbers?
  5. Wow, didn't know you've been visiting Great Adventure since the beginning! Anyhow, I wasn't born until 1981 so I'd have to time travel back to 1974 to do this thing. I'd take in a chariot race at the Great Arena, ride the Log Flume and do the Garden of Marvels.
  6. Two thoughts: 1. The reopening/rehab of El Toro (all 4 Intamin pre-fabricated wooden coasters have had issues) 2. The demolition of the Northern Star Arena with a replacement of a B&M Wing or Dive Coaster.
  7. How common was it to time the launches so that both trains could simultaneously go through their loops?
  8. Yeah I'm thinking of giving up on Six Flags if my Diamond Elite Membership ever gets dropped. I've gone fewer times this year; mainly because my job has been beating me up psychologically and my off days got switched to Tuesday/Wednesday. Plus I've been going to Six Flags since 2016 (after not doing parks for many years; first I was a Gold season pass holder in 16/17, then Diamond Elite since 2018). If I drop Six Flags, I'll just make Hershey Park my new place.
  9. Yeah and the interior is worn out and beaten down (can get a view of it going up Medusa's lift hill)
  10. Interesting that it was used for a Fright Fest trail one year. Also that it took until 2022 for it to be fully demolished. Now do you think eventually the Northern Star Arena will come down (as it's been a while since any kind of show was there) and if so, what takes it's place? I say you could have a B&M Dive or Wing Coaster there .... or why not fuse them together (a Winged Dive Coaster)
  11. 1. Do you think it would have still had a fustercluck of issues even if it had been built in it's original planned design? 2. As I've often thought, given how better LSM's are now; could the concept of The Chiller work in 2022? 3. 29yrswithaGApass, how often did you get to ride The Chiller? As I've read, because of how taller the inverted top hat was, the Batman side required more LIM's/power consumption, thus it had more downtime (on year it didn't even operate)
  12. How were the crowds on opening Fright Fest weekend? I'll be going the last weekend (October 29-31) and just thinking if crowds are light .... I'd have no need for a flash pass for the rides nor an express line pass for the mazes.
  13. Speaking of Morey's Piers, how good is Great Nor'Easter? From what I've read, it's really the only Vekoma SLC in the USA that coaster enthusiasts really like?
  14. Possibly. That and during the summer with higher gas prices, people weren't traveling much. But I think the biggest thing was the introduction of the new Membership options earlier this year. Based on what you and GASM have said, Fright Fest could be lighter this year ..... then again this is just opening weekend (I go up in late October)
  15. I had no idea those were old stables; I had thought it was just spare storage. Be cool to read/see the spotlight.
  16. My bad, I must have been looking at a different plot of land.
  17. Battle of the other B&M Hyper Coasters in the Six Flags Chain (NOT including Nitro) Raging Bull (Six Flags Great America) or Goliath (Six Flags Over Georgia)
  18. I know these ideas won't happen .... but imagine S&S Sansei doing a recreation of the layout of the old Arrow mega looper .... call it ... the New GASM And with improvements in LSM technology .... Batman & Robin: The Chiller could work!
  19. Wow, parking in Hurricane Harbor's lot! How many parking spaces approximately does Great Adventure have (combined main park and HH)?
  20. When I was up there a couple of weeks ago (August 30th), I had noticed the Jolly Roger was not there. Unless it was down for rehabilitation, maybe that's the next thing to be put in the graveyard? And the Safari Off-Road Adventure would have remained if not for COVID.
  21. Well when I went up last year for Fright Fest, Log Flume & Congo Rapids were operating during daylight hours. But you're right; I've always been under the assumption (and seen signs as such) that LF & CR were strictly "Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day weekend operations"
  22. Yeah when I've done Fright Fest in past years I've gotten Flash Passes for both the rides and the mazes. I'm sure crowds will be bigger but we shall see
  23. When I was up there a couple of weeks ago (August 30) I had noticed that 3D glasses were no longer being used on JL:BFM. Didn't matter to me as I still got the highest score in my car. That and it was so dead, I was able to walk on Jersey Devil 5 times that day.
