The coaster will be the steepest in the north east and be the parks first new coaster in 18 years. the 320 model will feature birch themed supports with dark green track. The coasters location will be in the back Northern end of the park taking over part of the park Ball field/picnic field. 2. Glad to see the announcement finally come out. Though while I like the theme and name, I wish they had picked something that better fir the theme of the area. They might as well look into converting the area to a DC superheros area.
  3. Ya that's what I hear. and that's why they are called Rumors. Thing is it is just not desired I have never seen a response come with so much backlash as this addition. So many negative comments on facebook alone.
  4. And that means what? Whether it stops, slows, or just rides through it's still a drop beyond vertical.
  5. I rarely push thunderbolt as a family coaster but your just making the addition sound worse. It really doesn't matter is it's a mirror or not. The coaster is still a wild mouse. your giving it 2 years which still is not what they need. A park like TGE the coaster would have stayed popular for years to come.
  6. Ya Little six reminded me of a Jimmy fund Poster child. I think the mistake here was adding a Mr Six attraction to SFNE. This will be the second time a character/Mr Six attraction was added to the park and the character was retired afterwords.
  7. The coaster is being installed where the drop tower ride and the Drive in Theater (show theater) used to sit. Should be a nice addition but they really need a few thrilling flats. The writer is a liar though, there are a number of vertical coasters in the US. It's not even the first Euro Fighter which was Mystery Mine.
  8. I never wanted TDK. The park has Pandemonium and Catwoman's whip they have enough family coasters. Why fill a space that could hold 3-5 flats with a coaster that will be popular for one year. and NE already has the same model at funtown in ME.
  9. Having a ticket I had to use before it expired a made a last minute trip up to Canobie. It was Sunday, hot (nearly90), and very sunny. I wanted to get to the park to see Matt Lewis who Plays Elvis. He has returned after producing the shows and playing Elvis in 2005. so I got an early start and made it to the park at 11:15 after a couple stops. The park was already very crowded the center lot was full and I top a space back by Cannonball turn. I can in from the back side wish was lucky since there seemed to be a lot of traffic coming in from the Mass side of the road. As I entered they had an employee directing guest to the ticket booth or reminding guest that have tickets to head right in. as I entered I took a left. I watched a couple people play the new paintball game. While I personally would never pay 5 dollars to shoot paintballs at targets the new game seemed to be very popular throughout the game. Much more popular then the old golf put game that used to reside there. I opted to make mine of lost souls my first ride after seeing the 3/4ths full queue for the flume. The ride is always fun and some effects were working again which is good to see. But the ride could use some TLC and the ending water effect has not worked in a long time. It would be a perfect place for a new effect to surprise the guests. Through out the day I only hit a few ride. My main goal was to hit the shows. I hit Mine of Lost Souls, corkscrew, Boston Harbor Patrol, Skater, Star blaster, Zero Gravity x 2, Dragon Coaster, Twistn’ shout(tilt), Wipe out, and Cannonball. Pirata, Xtreme Frisbee and Davinci’s Dream were down for the day. I did see a lot of test runs on Frisbee but it never opened. The Shows Long Live the King – Simon Will Productions featuring Matt Lewis This was the Elvis tribute show. Elvis is back by popular Demand after a 5 year hiatus. This new format was put together by Matt and His Simon Will Production Company. It was a very good show. The show was very upbeat with a great song selection. What was most surprising were the number of guests that were completely entranced by the show. I swear some of these guests felt hits was Elvis. I half expected some woman to stand up, let out a shriek, then pass out in the isle. I watched the show twice and the show was packed both times. Divas of Pop - Simon Will Productions featuring Joelle G. This was the big show for the Midway stage. The Show consisted of one key singer and background dancers. The dancers also performed in the Jackson/Elvis show. The songs were form female artist that are popular right now; Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Lady Gaga. Beyoncé, and Taylor Swift. Over all it was a good show and the lead singer had a good voice. There was plenty of energy with a good turnout. The Audience seemed to enjoy the show. Though I will admit I hate Beyonce’s Ring on It and I’m not all that found of Lady Gaga but over all enjoyed the show. A Tribute to Tim and Faith - Simon Will Productions featuring Tim Hair and Landri Taylor Mitchell This show most surprised me. I am a novice when it comes to country music. I only listen form time to time. I could name only a few songs and couldn’t tell you who sings more then a few songs. But I found myself knowing nearly every song. The performers were fantastic and they did an amazing job. I and much of the audience seemed excited by the song selection and sang along. I didn’t really see this at any of the other live music shows. I took some time after the show to talk to Landri show played faith. Tim who played Tim had to leave, medical reasons. Wildlife Encounters – Granite State Zoo This was a live animal show. Derek was the presenter of the day and brought along a lot of excitement. He was energetic and made a point o not just stick to the script but answered questions and was able to correct guests who was misinformed about the animal without sounding argumentative nor attacking. The show displayed a Cockatoo, Wallaby Joey, A Python, and the surprise of the show an African Serval. After the show they brought out 3 other displays a Pigmy Hedgehog, an Australian Bearded Dragon, and a Vietnamese Centipede. It was a very enjoyable show and I wish the granite stage zoo luck in their efforts to build a zoo in NH. In all the shows were very good. Far better then they have been in the last few years. I do regret not seeing most of the shows till the end of the year. They would have been worth seeing a few more times. Simon Will productions will be handling a Prince Tribute show during Screeemfest and I hope that is not the end of his involvement with the park. I really hope to see shows of this caliber next year. Half way through the day I got a call from Scott show I know through the Whalom Park Project was at the park with him family. It gave us a chance to talk about the upcoming meeting and a bit more about the fundraising plans. I also updated him on the bumper car body for the museum, I will be cleaning it soon. A finished my night with them. We had Dinner at the Trellis. Scott was nice enough to buy me Dinner; Burger, onion rings and a soda refill. That saved me around 7-8 dollars. At the end of the day we could Fried Dough and drinks. 4 fried dough’s, 1 bottled water, one drink and a Soda refill was just under $27 Dollars. For the most part it was a good day. The weather was great, shows were fantastic, and I got on a fair number of rides despite a very crowded park. I have one ticket left and will go at the beginning of October and with any lick towards the end of the season. The day only had 2 problems. One the fried dough stand screwed up a very simple order and refused to refill my drink which I have done at this location before. The other has to do with end of day procedure and security. We got our fried dough and drink just before closing. We sat down at the trellis to eat. I had to ret my refund and a cup of ice to make up for the missed drink form the last order. I finally got things squared away and the entire group was together when security on fronted up and pretty much asked us to leave. I admit the park was closed for about 10 minutes. Think it this was not done in the past you were allowed to finish your food and make your way out at the end of the day as long as you were in the front of the park it was not a concern. Thy also force you out the main gate and will not let guest over to the rest room instructing everyone leaving to use to 2 ( one mans, one womans) that are outside the gate. Well we picked up put stuff food in one hand drink in another. Left the park and made out way to the park were we had to finish our food. But I had asked for some one to grab my back pack. Didn’t happen, so it was back to the park were I had to some what argue with security to get in to get it. I was sent to customer service. I told then what was up, they looked I said it wouldn’t be there since it was only left behind a couple minute and would e at the trellis. So the girl at customer service said “go get it.” Started to and the lady at the security gate yelled at me to stop. So I had to wait while she called another security member to go to the trellis, find it and bring it over. I was happy to get the back pack and happy they took care of it. But one of the many security members in the front of the park could have walked me over faster. Photos coming soon
  10. The name says it all. teh Swing is just like getting pushed in a giant swing. best thing is ride it a half hour or so before a show starts. Hit the ride and if you feel bad you see the sow and relax. The coaster planed but there is no real word on when it will be added. the Water park Expansion will happen after a city Road is moved and the park is trying to get the City and state to pay for most if not all of it.
  11. I never got the reasoning of adding them in the first place.
  12. I found Country Bears much better then Haunted Mansion. I also enjoyed Tower of Terror better the both of them. Though should we counting any of the movies based on attractions that were planed at the same time. Bugs Life/Its tough to Be a Bug or Dinosaur for Dinosaur/ Count down to Extinction.
  13. Great trip report. I really enjoyed reading it. Next trip you should try thunder and Lightning. the ride is thrilling but no all that intense. i agree the ride selection is a little lacking they need a few more flats and yes another coaster. They have a Family spinner designed. I have seen teh blue prints. They are concentrating on getting the road moved so that the water parks can be expanded. They will then look at building the coaster. there is a rumor that the park is looking at another flat for 2011.
  14. It would also be a 3rd indoor coaster in the park. simply not needed.
  15. Yes this is the Park up in NH. The White Mountain has 3 Parks with coasters Santa's Village, Six Gun City , and Story Land. there is also Clark's Trading posts a road side attraction well worth your time. there is also a really nice water park call Whale's Tale that just added a pro slides rain-house this year.
  16. This trip was sort of last minute coming up just a day before. But I got up and wrapped up a few things so I could enjoy the day. I went with my parents and niece. They had return passes so I only needed a ticket for myself. Though not unexpected I found us leaving late and not arriving at the park till 1:15 that day. I got a ticket at a discount $23.99, a $2 dollar increase form last year. While not terribly expensive compared to some parks it was given the 4 hours and 45 minutes left to the operating day. We made our way in and while my parents brought my niece to the restroom I walked over to the Yum Yum Junction. The building is no longer a gift shop, Instead it has been converted to a candy, Ice cream and fudge shop. It was a nice change. The majority of souvenirs it offered can be found in other locations so it wasn’t a loss. The new food options were welcomed, but I was surprised that they now use the candy shop as a primary exit. They even promote it on the sign. After meeting up with my group I talked briefly with the park’s New GM. It was nice to hear that he is settle in comfortably. He strongly recommended the shows. With that we went on with our way. We mad our way over the hill to the Polar coaster. The ride was a blast as usual and it’s always a joy to ride a coaster that can’t be found anywhere else in the world. We road the Bamboo Chute, the parks flume ride, another custom design Hopkins ride. We checked out the online photo from the ride but didn’t buy after seeing the $12 dollar price. When the price was $8 we would buy on every year, on multiple rides, sometime more then once a year. Now we just move on without buying anything. I snapped a shot of the screen none the less. As we made our way to the front we came up to the Professor Bigglesteps lab. The park removed the large cannon on the off season and in its place is a building with 2 midway style games and a small gift shop. I wish they could have kept it. I had always seen the Cannon as an iconic aspect of the park so I found it strange to see it gone. Wish they could have kept it. The cannon was a set piece for the Journey to the Moon dark ride that operated in the dome. The games are Ring Ross with coke bottles offering $1 dollar 5 ring and $5 dollar bucket options. The second game is a Duck Race. winner ever time, attraction for $2 dollars. The Crab crawl water race game is now $2 dollars and I suspect but wasn’t able to confirm the roller ball race game in Mexico has also gone up. My niece for the first time wanted to use the Ball play/foam factory area. This attraction along with a show theater replaced the dark ride when it was removed. My niece had fun and some adults seemed to get into it but like most of the playgrounds the adults just watched. After leaving we made our way to the Ocean of Fun area and road the Turtle Twirl then made or way into the Farm area to get a ride on the tractor ride. For some reason my nice didn’t want to ride the Crazy Barn, which was a surprise, she did want to watch the farm fillies show but we kept missing the show times. We did however see the circus show. The Show is produced by the Royal Hannaford Circus. The acts are all new except for one, the quick change act. The new acts consisted of a Dog Trick act which my presents believe they saw on Americas Got Talent a couple season ago, a girl performing with hula hoops, and a family of acrobats using a teeter totter to do stunts. My niece was saying she was hungry so it was time to grab lunch/snack. Thing was the lighthouse snacks is no longer a snack shop. It’s now Lighthouse Pizza. The prices were a bit high ($3 slices, $6.99 2 slices and drink combo) and my niece was asking for her traditional hot dog so we went else ware We headed down to the food fair to get a quick bite. All the food stands got new signs. The park switched this year from Pepsi to Coke. Prices are up from a couple years ago. We bought 2 hot dog combos (dog and small fries) 4.99 each, a single hot dog 2.99, a large drink 2.99, and I got a refill on my souvenir cup .99 cents. Total 16.95 + 9% meal tax. After our meal we hit the Circus show I talked about earlier. The day was for my nice so we hit rides she asked to ride. He hit the Balloon Ferris wheel before making our way to the Carousel. My niece used the Pirate playground before walking up the Cinderella’s Castle. From there we made out way through the story book animal area on our way to the Bah-Bah Black sheep school house and finally to the Ball play in the Little Dreamers play area. The parks operating day was coming to an end and we made our way around to the Cuckooclockinspiel tea cup ride and wrapped up the day with 3 rides on the Polar coaster. With the park closed my parents took my niece to the Tree House playground in the front of the park. I stayed behind to get a few final photos around the park and to take the last Train run around the park. In all it was a wonderful day. I think some of the new pricing might be a bit high, at least for my taste. I would have liked to get there earlier then we did and would like to see the park consider opening till 6:30 or 7 at night. Some of the changes I found annoying, but do they really matter. At a family park the opinion that is truly important is the child you are accompanying, and my niece had a blast.
  17. Sounds like a great trip. I really need to get out to this park.
  18. Why dose the fact that there are other Superman Coaster make a difference. there are what 3other sin the US and 1or 2 others in the world. and the closest on is what GA. unlike say batman, which is a great coaster that is all over the place and closest is La ronda.
  19. I didn't find it that bad either. It was mildly frightening has a similar feel to teh Twilight zone episodes. There was some level of Comedy. it was done on a lower budget since it was a Wonderful world of Disney movie instead of a theatrical release.
  20. Knowing deltoro it will likely be more suspense and less traditional horror.
  21. While I Don;t see it happening, if it was my call I would flag TGE and LA ronda. The company is fresh out of bankruptcy. looks like there moving forward if that add 2 Six flags parks to the family. The spin on marketing is priceless towards improving their failing namesake.
  22. I figured that might be how they were looking at it. thanks for the info. it dose seem like the event has been getting cut back but I have heard about that at SFNE as well. TGE hasn't expanded but is not charging for the one Haunted house that was free for years. but at least you guys got Dead Mans Party. I really miss that show.
  23. Anything has to be better then the Original. what was worse is the chears Special was more frightening then the theatrical movie. Heck the low budget wonderful world of disney TV movie of Tower of Terror was better. But with disney movies not making the grade will this prove different.
  24. Glad you liked them here is the photo page with more shots. http://photos.newwhalom.com/Trip%20Reports...R%20photos.html
