29yrswithaGApass
Source: Jackson NJ Online New Jersey Power outage shuts down Six Flags Great Adventure, Ft. Dix August 10, 2009 by Jackson NJ Online Jackson, NJ – A power outage has swept across the area today shutting down rides at Six Flags Great Adventure on a hot and steamy summer day. First Energy Corp, which provides power to Northern Ocean and Monmouth Counties reported outages at 1:15pm this afternoon across the entire service area. Outages have occured in Bayville, Beachwood, Toms River, Jackson, Point Pleasant, Brick, Howell and Wall Township. No cause was given for the outage, but higher than normal temperatures and overloads are suspected. Former Jackson resident Tony Panariello, a photographer from Minerva Photo Magic, visiting Great Adventure today commented “Power outage at six flags closing all the rides, no flags! no fun!”. The outage, not as widespread as the Northeast Blackout of 2003, which was caused by demand overloads on an ailing national power grid. Just this year, economic stimulus money has been earmarked to power companies across the country to upgrade their local powergrids. Just this past week, it was reported that NJ provider PSE&G had applied for the Smart Grid Investment Program, while First Energy applied for $57 million to cover half the costs of plans for customers in Ohio, Pennsylvania and New Jersey. rcji
Good thing I'm going to the park tomorrow and not today. Hopefully the rain in the forecast scares some people away for tomorrow.
southview2
Yea, I was working when this happened, hurricane harbor, water rides minus the water equals mad guests. And all registers and such were down so many people got angry because they didn't know it was a big widepreed outage, they just thought it was SF.
