29yrswithaGApass
With special thanks to our member Eileen Bergen (Eileen), we are proud to share some pictures from her visit to Great Adventure in the summer of 1975. You can view all of her photos in our album of her photos HERE, but first some samples: The show in the Aqua Stadium use to feature many dolphins! A Happy Feeling petting zoo animal greets a young guest. The Conestoga Wagon was really colorful. Prior to the entrance being moved to its current location, the fountain had a simple rock texture to it. The big silver tree reaches to the top of the yellow and white Souvenirs & Crazies Dream Street Tent. This aerial photo shows both the Big Fury and the rarely photographed Jumbo Jet roller coasters in the "New for 1975" Fun Fair section of the park. Gary Hill
Nice to see photos of the early days when I was still there. Do you see the crowds at the Great Arena and the dolphin and dive shows! Too bad she missed the best part of the park...The Safari!!!!!! 29yrswithaGApass
Eileen has about 45 photos of the Safari which she will be scanning for us. She also sent us a bunch of fantastic photos of the Garden of Marvels, but we are saving those for our Garden of Marvels Spotlight!
29yrswithaGApass
Below is a zoomed in shot of the Jumbo Jet. I never imagined the ride as being red and green. It was exciting to see a shot that confirmed the ride was actually installed in the park. At least I was excited by it.
Yankees99
THIS is how I remember the park! What great photos and memories. Love all the greenery and woodlands with the rides hidden.
29yrswithaGApass
A wonderful collection of 1975 Safari photos have been posted to Eileen's album - A 1975 Park Visit. Eileen has been so gracious in taking the time out of her busy schedule to scan and share these photos with us. Many, many thanks! Here are some sample images, but be sure to visit the album in our gallery to see a bunch of photos from 1975! Enjoy! A deer eyes-up a passing panther and thanks God that there is a fence between them! Playful bears spend an afternoon in a roadside pond. It is feeding time for the elephants. A couple of animals feed from the banks of the bird sancuary area.
29yrswithaGApass
We are always on the lookout for new (and old!) information and pictures to share with you on GreatAdventureHistory.com. Sometimes we find Great Adventure stuff in the strangest places. In the case of Eileen's great photos, we were able to obtain those after finding a sample of her pictures in a piece she did on digital scrapbooking on her web page The Artful Crafter! If you are "crafty" be sure to check out Eileen's fun site and blog.
gafreak
Below is a zoomed in shot of the Jumbo Jet. I never imagined the ride as being red and green. It was exciting to see a shot that confirmed the ride was actually installed in the park. At least I was excited by it. Looks like Jumbo Jet was on the site where FreeFall sat in glory. Would be cool to get a time machine and go back to the late 70's GA.
