The only examples of highly successful prototypes I can think of are pretty much everything at CP (TTD, MF, MXL200, Maverick) El Toro for sure, and Leviathan. But especially with wingriders, it's better to wait for rides like GateKeeper or X-Flight rather than Raptor.
