First time ever went to SFNE and it was my first trip this year to a Six Flags park. I live on Long Island where it takes a good 2 hours to GADV alone so I only get to go 2-3 times a year. Being it was a beautiful day I made the trip with my brother. Main reason we went was to ride Wicked Cyclone and Bizarro (a.k.a Superman Ride of Steel)...plus it was nice to do new rides for once.

My first reaction upon entering was the size difference between this park and GADV. It is much smaller and the rides are really close to each other. It was still a nice park and enjoyed it much. We bought the Gold flash pass since we were trying to maximize our time there. Park wasn't too crowded but it helped a lot for a few rides. Only negative was it couldn't be used on Wicked Cyclone unless you have the platinum flash pass. Because of that, we were only able to do Wicked Cyclone once and waited about an hour for it upon entering the park. It ran one train most of the day which didn't help. We hit every roller coaster with the exception of the 2 kiddie ones.

Thunderbolt - Nice classic old woodie

Mind Eraser - Bit rough through the inversions if you didn't hold your head back

Bizarro (a.k.a Superman Ride of Steel) x4 - (Once in the front, back and twice in the middle) Great ride. Probably the best steel coaster I've been on. The first drop is pretty crazy with the underground element. Call me biased but I thought El Toro is still better. I felt the air time is much stronger on El Toro and whips you faster. Ride of Steel was still a fantastic ride. My only complaint is the trains. I understand they made safety modifications over the years but there is no leg room and the yellow lap bar is like a giant log. The breaks are also worse than Nitro.

Flashback - Really rough ride. I don't recommend this to anymore.

Pandemonium - First time on a spinning coaster. Very cool and enjoyable. GADV could use something like this.

Batman: The Dark Knight - Basically a small version of (our Bizarro) Medusa. Very steep chain lift to save space. Because I've been on Medusa so many times it was nothing special to me.

Goliath (a.k.a Deja Vu) – I was at Magic Mountain when this ride was there but it broke down while I was in line. I thought this was the best ride in the park outside of Bizarro and Wicked Cyclone. It was very thrilling going back up the hill vertically and your whole body is leaning on the restraints. Very cool ride.

Wicked Cyclone – Great ride overall. Very smooth and a lot of air time hills. The inversions were really nice. The first inversion you get a lot of hang time. Still I didn't think it was better than El Toro, but it was a fantastic ride. They did a great job with it considering the small amount of space the ride take up. Wish I was able to ride it more but it was awesome.

New England Sky Screamer – Not going to lie I was actually scared. At 400 ft tall it was really windy at the top. So windy the seats were actually twisting making me feel unsafe. Really nice view at the top though.

Left the park around 4:15 and headed home. I enjoyed my time at SFNE. Definitely worth a trip if you haven't been there, especially if you have a season pass. Being able to get in and park for free (at a different park) was pretty sweet. I only took a handful of photos. See the link below.

Enjoy and thanks for reading!

Want to go to this park this year. Its a 4 hour trip so it might be something we would go Saturday afternoon, hit a few rides at night, camp overnight nearby and then hit the park the next day for 1/2 day. I can't really seem myself leaving at 6am and then getting home late at night. Think I would be too tired driving 8 hours and riding coasters for 8 hours.

Do they have any shows there? That's the only way my wife would come along.

There's an air-conditioned theater and they've always had smaller entertainment options around the park as well. Not sure of this year's offerings, but its generally one of the better SF parks for shows in general.

Also, the water park is UNREAL. Really well run and with an awesome collection of rides.

Nice report. When I was there for my first time a couple of weeks ago I had about the same reaction to all of the rides as you with the exception of the Sky Screamer. I was so relaxed on it I thought it was smaller than the one at Great Adventure.

I hope to be able to go back this summer and take my family this time.
