International Expansion Accelerates as Two Six Flags-Branded Parks to Open in Vietnam

GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Mar. 21, 2016-- Six Flags Entertainment Corporation(NYSE:SIX), the world's largest regional theme park company, today announced a new strategic partnership with NaVi Entertainment, a private company based in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, to build a theme park and a water park in Vietnam using the Six Flags and Six Flags Hurricane Harbor brand names, respectively. Both are expected to open in the next three to four years.

"Our international licensing strategy is gaining momentum and provides strong long-term upside for the company above and beyond the growth opportunity of our North America properties,” said John Duffey, president and CEO of Six Flags Entertainment.

Terms of the arrangement were not disclosed.

Interesting to see the HH brand name in there. I'd have figured they'd use something a bit more sensitive in a part of the world where tropical storms are quite common.

 

Then again, SF isn't entering these agreements so these parks can actually be built. So it may not come to be after all.
