LOUIS – The City Museum has been sold to an Oklahoma-based company that operates theme and water parks across the United States and Canada. Premier Parks, LLC, announced on Thursday it will assume operation and management of City Museum. Premier Parks is led by Kieran Burke, a former chairman and CEO of Six Flags Entertainment Corporation. “We are incredibly excited to add the creativity and uniqueness of City Museum to our portfolio of entertainment facilities. We love the vision of founders Bob and Gail Cassilly. The ability to operate a must-see attraction in the vibrant downtown of St. Louis is a welcome opportunity. We plan to keep the same staff and vision for the museum while infusing some of our resources so that City Museum will continue to grow and expand.” Burke said. The Cassillys opened City Museum in 1997. Over 800,000 people visited the museum in 2017. Dave Jump, CEO of City Museum, said, “I am grateful for the creative, hard work of the staff before and after Bob’s death. That group and the new operators will carry forward the magic that is City Museum.” Premier Parks operates 10 theme and water parks, including, Clementon Park and Splash World (Clementon, NJ); Elitch Gardens Theme and Water Park (Denver, CO); Magic Springs Theme and Water Park (Hot Springs, AR); Nashville Shores Resort (Nashville, TN); Ocean Breeze Water Park (Virginia Beach); Pacific Park (Santa Monica Pier); Rapids (West Palm Beach, FL); Wet ‘n’ Wild Hawaii, and Wet ‘n’ Wild Toronto; and, Wild Waves Theme and Water Park, (Seattle, WA). This looks like a good purchase for Premier Parks, but the last paragraph is what I find most interesting. Every article about this purchase says Premier Parks currently operates 10 parks in the US & Canada, but their website still shows 11 parks. This is the only article to list all of the parks and Wet 'n' Wild Palm Springs is missing. Yoshi Posted January 3, 2019 Report Share Posted January 3, 2019 It will be interesting to see if some of the exhibits or attractions will change. I have never been there but from seeing trip reports, some of the more extreme things like the human skate park may not look so great to Premier.
