29yrswithaGApass
Today we spent the afternoon touring the grounds of the New York World's Fair in Flushing Meadows. Special thanks to Jason (J4Sing) for arranging such a great tour and showing us around! I learned a lot of new stuff and finally seeing the Unisphere was a real thrill! We took hundreds of photos.. .here are several: Off to the Fair! Queens Museum of Arts just outside the Unisphere An original drinking fountain! and original benches! The Unisphere - the world's largest globe! The drained fountains The New York State Pavillion The Westinghouse Time Capsule The Amusements Area of the Fair including the Aquacade The route of the old monorail buckles through the earth Looking back towards the Unisphere from the Amusements Area The heavily wooded fairgounds The New York Panorama in the Queens Museum of Arts was very impressive. A tribute to the Fair included the Skyride that now calls Great Adventure home. Near the path of the Skyride route is an old foundation ??? We had to leave a couple of hours before it ended but it was a great afternoon!

JetsDevs4Lyf
That looks like it was an amazing day. So much to see there in so many respects. Being that I was nowhere near alive when the fair took place, I would definitely like to get out there to see some of what remains from it. And Harry you read my mind as the moment I saw the first NY Panorama photo, I suddenly questioned whether or not the Twin Towers would be on there and tried to see for myself. Looks like you guys had a really great day there happy to see it was a good time.
J4Sing
Awesome pictures! Glad you were able to make it out there, it was a great tour. The group started dwindling down at around 3, but some of us diehards stayed on until 8. Since I arrived there at 8am, that's a 12 hour walking tour. Great time-thanks for sharing the pictures- JS
