  1. OOPS! I made an error with the Verazanno height. Went back and corrected it, so all is well. If anyone saved the previous version, you might want to replace it with v2.0. sorry bout that- Jay
  2. Maybe tomorrow guys, I'm pretty tired now. I just put my toys away and am ready for bed. G'nite!
  3. I had some extra time on my hands today, so I decided to undertake a little photoshop project that I wanted to do for a while. Hope you all like it! JS
  4. Already said that before... The Grand Prix?
  5. Actually, Hydra Flume hasn't been gone for years and years, only a couple years I believe. There is a circle next to Panda Express, toward Buccaneer. Isn't that where Calypso, then Condor was? Calypso can be ruled out, because when they put Condor on it's site, it was a different kind of setup, thus calypso wouldn't have left anything. Hmmm.........the.......Monster Spin?
  6. There was a science to the placement of the flats. A lot of people went on them, they were fun, and they made the lines for the big coasters more tolerable.
  7. Hang in there Cyclone Man- You're a good guy, things will get better you'll see.
  8. Another HOT day in Florida. 100+ degrees with super high humidity. Heat index hits the 110's. Disgusting. Can't wait till years end to get some normal weather again when I move back home to Staten Island. Only thing is I'm doing it ass backwards- Staying in Florida for the hot summer, then moving to New York in the dead of winter. I will get to do Times Square on New Years eve though. Yaaay!!
  9. Poor taste? I would say no taste at all. Underwear is supposed to be heard, not seen. And they used to make fun of my generation for wearing Velour shirts! Now that was taste!
  10. Oh we get problems with the drunks a lot, mainly on Friday and Saturday nights. Actors get hit and threatened. I was lucky to be in a jail cell both times I did it. (although I dont know where I am going to be put this year.)One time a drunk girl got into my cell and sat on my prop toilet, which was not connected. Drunks will stare down actors, and most stupid of all, try and scare the actors. They curse, snarl, and threaten. People wait 2 hours on line, and they have booze concessions on the lines like Great Adventure has soft drink stands on the line. So some people are plastered before they even get in to the first house. Then of course, you have the pukers. Let me know when you are coming down for the event, maybe we can meet up. JS

    Skyride

Can anyone tell which end had the motors and which end had the counterweights at the World's Fair? Neither end was elevated, like the Fort is, so that means the counterweights went down a shaft underground. North South
  12. The boys with the pants pulled down and the underwear pulled up has been going on for years now. The girls with the zipper down, etc I haven't seen. Horrifying to hear about it though. The whole world has gone nuts.
  13. Flats Flats!!! Flats, all the way!!!! (ouch. walked in to a wall there!)
  14. QUOTE(JetsDevs4Lyf @ Aug 6 2008, 03:46 PM) I think if I ever had the oppertunity to work a FF, I would love to be a clown. Something aboutt hat mixture of a sadistic thing dressed up like a friendly childrens character seems interesting to me for a Halloween purpose. Yeah, my buddy Chris would agree with you wholeheartedly.
  15. I am very pleased to announce I was hired back by Universal Studios yesterday to work HHN 18. I worked two previous HHN's, and it was a blast. This will be my final one, since I am moving back north at the end of the year. Hope to do the same thing next year at either GA or Coney Island, whichever one is less censored. Here are a few pics of myself in previous HHN's. I will keep you all posted as the event unfolds. JS Ghost Town, 2004 Ghost Town 2004 (Ron "Opie Cunningham" Howard went through that night. Scared the crap out of him I did. lol) We're not really supposed to sleep during breaks, but who is going to try and wake ME? With my ex gf, Ghost Town 2004. (the relationship was kind of sucky anyhow.) Shaving my head during a break. All Night Die-IN, 2006 Inside the house, All Night Die In, 2006 With my good friend Jack the clown,2006. Jack loved me... But he loved my friend Chris even more.... The Surgeon General pays a visit

    Skyride

This is true. I debated posting that shot because of that, but it really is a gorgeous picture, even with only 2 gondolas present. Here's a couple more lively shots. I have dozens of skyride pics from the NYWF. HOW'S THIS FOR PERFECT DISPATCHES? Here's a shot of the station by Gingerbread Fancy when it was at the World's Fair. Does anyone know how much of the original stuff remains? How about the Fort Station- does anyone have any NYWF pics from that side of the line? I was wondering if it was also elevated to allow easy access to the counterweight shaft, or if it was at ground level with the shaft going down below ground level. Anyone know?

    Skyride

It's always a treat when both sides are running. Not just because it splits the wait in half, but you get the full visual effect. That ride is not only a GA classic and a World's Fair legacy, it's one of the few remaining Von Roll systems running, and an extremely rare double line at that. It's discontinuation is unthinkable. May it fly forever!
  18. I only went in to see the shows the first couple times. I remember my first visit, in 1979, we brought my cousin, and we were having a blast going on the then brand new Rolling Thunder, along with the other great rides, when suddenly the day had to come to a screeching halt so we could have lunch and go in to see a show.(at my parent's insistance, of course) We wondered what we did wrong to warrant such punishment, but the air conditioning was good! We hated the music though, even though the girls in the show were very pretty. If these shows were actually on Broadway, they would close on opening night. lol Another time my Uncle brought us, and dragged us in kicking and screaming to see the show. He let us leave though before it even started because we wouldn't leave him alone to enjoy it. Most memorable was in the Great Arena, 1980 I believe, and the headliner was none other than The Broadway Joe Willy Namath. Willy came out on stage looking completely loaded, and danced and sang his way through about 6 or 7 numbers, all the time grinning and flirting with the background girls in his show. After that, Perthy Pellican aside, I didn't see any more shows at Great Adventure until the original Batman Stunt Show in 93 and the Tiger Show last month. Those were good. I would have liked to see the original 1974 shows at the Great Arena, but that was before my time there. JS edit- I didn't mention the dolphin, diving, and water ski shows, those I saw several times in the early 80's. Those were also very good.
  19. Robert who is the dancing girl in the picture at lower left? That hairdo sure does bring back memories
  20. Did I miss something? When I was there last month, they had the Dolphin show, the Tiger show, live bands in the little bandstand by the fountain, the bugs bunny show, and headliner shows at the Arena. Has all this stuff been cancelled? Sad about the Water Ski show. I remember when that was brand new.
