  1. ^Panda Express will remain for 2016 with Chop Six coming in 2017.
  2. It's not like they've been steadily increasing their calendar year after year... They just added the Holiday event so opening the two November weekends makes sense. It's an early opening this year because of Easter and spring break for schools. That has nothing to do with trying to open earlier in the year than previous years. They opened April 12 in 2014 and I'm sure they'll open again in April when Easter falls later.
  3. ^What regional amusement parks today have a cohesive theme throughout the entire park? You're saying negative things about the park as though Great Adventure is the only park with these issues.
  4. ^Mind saying which group? Obviously not trying to start a political discussion but I'm curious for my own interests.
  5. Just a repaint should do the job, maybe some new paint or theming in the station. I like the plants and foliage inside the, ahem, layout of the coaster.
  6. Just because they're small doesn't mean they aren't coasters. They fit literally every definition of a coaster. What about them makes you think otherwise? Would they be coasters if they were 100 feet taller? Edit: I agree, back on topic.
  7. This is ridiculous. I'm not even going to comment.
  8. At this point, i wish Great Adventure would try to theme everything like they did El Toro. Not meaning specifically a Spanish bull theme, but tastefully done with some light thematic aspects that is cohesive and presented well. It looks natural and isn't obnoxious or out of place like some of the other rides approach.
  9. ^Th concept art didn't give that vibe. As a general rule, launched coasters or coasters with vertical drops have shorter/lighter trains. This coaster appears to have both, as well as some tight transitions and maneuvers. This issue isn't avoided by running three trains, that's all to do with the length of the ride. I think capacity won't be a strong point for whatever the park chooses from RMC's catalogue, but that doesn't appear to be a main concern of SF these days.
  10. ^Six Flags America is rumored for an RMC in 2017. They've had two consecutive off-years, even by SFA standards.
  11. ^The animations RMC released looked pretty detail oriented. If they didn't intend to have one across trains, why would they release something so rarely seen? Something like track texture I'm sure could be changed but you don't release something entirely different than what you plan on building.
  12. ^Justice League is just an example, but it's a different type of major investment for SF parks. You could say the same thing for two coasters (in this regime... so Ka and El Toro mean nothing), or the 400+ foot drop towers, or really anything over $10 million at a SF park since 2010. No park has spent more than $10 million two years in a row, and I don't see SF changing that. It doesn't matter what two rides we're talking about. And maybe The Joker is only $8 million, but the purpose and impact of a Free Spin is the same as an RMC coaster or a Justice League clone. I don't see any valid argument why Great Adventure would be up for two straight *major* investments.
  13. Yeah, so has Great Adventure in '05 and '06... but reading comprehension. Coaster followed by Justice League, or vice versa is what I'm talking about. Whenever a park builds a JL or a new coaster, they don't build the other the following year. No park has done it.
  14. If they were to do anything with the trains it would be just changing out the restraints, not the entire trains itself (like Maverick did for 2015). But the restraints aren't the problem, it's the fact that the trains are engineered to have OTSR's in the first place, which means the seats are a lot heavier and beefier, and have a higher center of gravity which magnifies vibrations on the chassis... which are already incredibly high going 128 mph. There's nothing that can be done to Kingda Ka in a reasonable budget to fix the vibrations with the current trains. And no, they're not getting new trains. Those are $1 million apiece and would likely change insurance policies with SF isn't going to deal with (not that New Jersey would let them anyways).
  15. ^You mean one of 9 parks without one? There are only four JL clones in the chain, how are we "one of the few" that don't have one?
  16. Justice League is a major investment for a SF park, even Great Adventure. The park has a fairly consistent pattern of a major investment followed by a much smaller one of a few mid-range investments in a row. Also look at other parks that got major Justice League, an RMC or a Free Spin, and you'll see a clear pattern. Great America--RMC in '14, almost nothing in '15, JL in '16 Magic Mountain--RMC in '15, Revolution (inexpensive) refurb in '16 Fiesta Texas--RMC in '13, slides in '14, Free Spin in '15, small flats in '16 There are no SF parks that have gotten either a coaster or a Justice League clone the year following one because they're all in the neighborhood of $10-$15 million investments. I don't think Great Adventure can justify breaking this trend. And no, they haven't had smaller investments recently to prepare for it.
  17. I'd keep it exactly as is. I'm not in favor of changing the palette of recognizable or iconic coasters like Nitro.
  18. The souvenir bottles cannot fit in your pocket. I usually leave them in the bottle holders that are at most (all?) major attractions. Mine was stolen in Nitro's station last November for the bonus weekend but it was my last visit of the year anyway. I'd recommend coloring a part of it or leaving a strap with nothing valuable on it to differentiate yours from all the others if you use the bottle holders.
  19. The concept video was nonspecific to Great Adventure. It was not tailored to any plot of land, either SF's or RMC's concept animations. You're making these connections up about surveying and layout points.
  20. Evidently, Chiller's station has in fact been demolished. Pictures are posted on Theme Park Review. This does not confirm anything at all that anybody has said, so I don't want to hear the words "I called it" or "my sources were correct" from anyone. I'm still reluctant to say this is a coaster for 2017.
  21. Big difference between family friendly and family coaster. You can have a park full of 48" restrictions on coasters, but there would still be nothing for families with 7 year olds to do if they're all as intense as a ride like Twisted Colossus. That's one of the main problems Great Adventure has these days.
  22. ^True, but Stinger has a small footprint and is easy to transport and install. Shoot the Rapids has a massive footprint, requires a very specific area to stand (water around the troughs, etc), and is being removed because it's unpopular (not because it's old) because it's seen as dangerous. People could have died on it at the fault of the safety systems, not the operators or riders. I'm sure this ride is being torn down entirely.
  23. Maybe you could watch a POV and figure it out?
  24. I don't think the parent company's capital investment strategy has all that much to do with off-season security and the clientele residing near the park.
  25. I think a "test park" can only qualify as such if what they're testing is something they intend to roll out to other parks. Constructing a one-time, world record breaking ride that is very innovative can not be considered a "test" because it's not like they were considering building a similar ride elsewhere (like Dragster). I'd say Leviathan is a "test" of sorts because Cedar Fair was obviously looking elsewhere for giga coasters (instead of Intamin after the I-305 issues), and they ended up using B&M's giga coaster model again at Carowinds, and possibly again at a later time. The same with the prototype seating on B&M hypers--being a "test" has nothing to do with being "innovative," it's just trying something new to determine if it's effective. The seating turned out successful as it was then used at Kings island and Carowinds. A "test" doesn't have to be a "first, tallest, fastest, newest, best," etc... it's just something different they haven't done before while in the process of determining its value for use at other locations. I think the VR is the next installment of said "test."
