  1. Would love to see something in Old Country or expand Movietown into the closed section of Old Country. They don't need to touch the old Rolling Thunder spot as between KK, Toro and now the path to Zumanjaro they can't fit all that much over there. Why would they when they have a nice amount of space near Movie Town/Old Country for a new coaster? Presonally I would love an - Intamin giga or even megalite (not likely) - RMC Woodie (more likely, but something small and compact like SFGAm's Goliath) but I think we'll most likely get a - B&M Wingrider. This is the most visually "WOW"ing coaster in the general publics eyes. The park loves B&M and they are solid, reliable coasters. It could potentially be installed in OC/MT and have sections that hang over the parks entrance similar to Gatekeeper, since thats kind of close by that area. SFGAdv obviously loves to put their big coasters near the parking lot where you can see them so I could see something like that happening. Also, though its more of an enthusiast concern, as mentioned we could claim the B&M capital of the world title. - or a simple, smaller GCI woodie like Goldstriker that is forceful and fun but not as intense as El Toro. We need a smaller woodie for folks that are turned off by Toro's height/speed/intensity.
  2. This looks awesome! I hope to be up at the park on the 16th, so hopefully it will still be open! I would love to check this out!
  3. Didn't know where to post this but since its related to the current bring-a-friend-free special but question for the regular park goers (which I am apparently becoming one of). How should I expect crowds to be on Tuesday and Wednesdays the next few weeks (keep in mind the bring a friend free special starting today for weekdays the next three weeks). A buddy and I are planning on taking a hooky day and using the special, probably next week and it seems to me like the most dead days during mid-summer are Tuesday and Wednesdays. Is that fair to assume? Id really like to not have to spend the $ on a flash pass - but would if I had to. Sucks having a job where I *have* to have someone cover my shift, as I have to plan out a specific day and then I'm just hawking the weather forecasts all week but I'll ride in a poncho if I have to. Obviously just don't want a day of T-storms where nothing is running.
  4. Hey everyone. I posted here already once or twice and lurk all the time but figured I'd pass some time on this slow work day and properly introduce myself. My name is Joey, born and raised in Philly. As a young kid I spent most summers, all summer in Wildwood, so naturally I was a kid obsessed with amusement rides, mostly coasters. I did make it to SFGAdv a few times with my folks in the 80s and 90s, but until last year the most recent time Id been at the park was when GASM, Rolling Thunder and Shockwave were the big coasters. I specifically recall riding Shockwave and Rolling Thunder with my mother. Anyway, as I grew up and life happened I lost this interest to other things, but last summer while poking around YouTube I randomly came across the "Megastructures" NatGeo show about Kingda Ka and by the end of the episode was convinced I had to give it a try. Its just too close and crazy not to! I researched the park a bit more and realized how much had changed since the last itme I was there and how many world class machines the park now has (Nitro, El Toro, Superman, etc etc). So I called up one of my best friends who is always reliably down for anything, and we took a day trip up to the park one Saturday last September, rode almost everything, and then the off season happened. WIth it being the age of the internet a whole new world opened up for me - I discovered RCDB, ordering TPR DVD's, etc and took to virtually riding every and any YouTube'd coaster I could. Getting familiar with manufactueres, all the different parks, coaster stats, etc. Full on nerd mode. Ive also dug really deep into the archives on this site. Amazing all the changes the park has gone through! You guys have put together an amazing archive! For 2014 I went ahead and got myself a Season Pass. And I'm happy I did! Since I live and work a in center city Philly, I don't drive or have a drivers license (which makes getting to Theme Parks a BITCH since they are all in the middle of nowhere), but with my pass giving me free access (and parking) I've managed to take advantage of all the bring-a-friend specials so far in an effort to convince friends and family to take a drive up with me, and Ive had quite a few awesome days at the park this season. Coasters After Dark was incredible! Almost eerily felt like my buddy and I had the park to ourselves - 5 re-rides in a row on Nitro in the dark, etc. A great, great night. We also got up for Opening Day which was really awesome in terms of weather and not-too-long lines. (Side note: I'm always down to go to the park so if anyone reading is in Philly, has wheels, and needs a riding partner, holler at me!!!) One day this summer I plan to take the bus up to the park and just enjoy it all by myself for one day. Kinda feel weird about it, but also think it would be nice to just do what I want to do all day. My favorite rides in the park are easily El Toro and Nitro, closely followed by Superman:UF, Batman, and Bizarro. I have yet to do Sky Screamer (I get nausea on spinny things but have little fear of heights so Ive been conflicted!), Kingda Ka is great but a one trick pony, Skull Mountain is amazing for such a small coaster, I hate the Dark Knight (and most WIld Mouse), and Green Lantern likes to punch me in the side of the head but I ride it anyway. Anyways, you guys have a great site here, I hope to post more, just thought I'd formally say Hello! I'm also on TPR as I know some of you are there too!
  5. Hi guys! First post. Was stalking this forum/thread all week as I was highly anticipating CAD last night. Worked out great w/ the weather. Actually started raining just at 9:15 as we were walking out of the main gate. Crowds were really light and operations smooth and fast. Crowds so light at times it was eerie seeing it so empty yet open. Happy to get a few rides in on my faves and a first time ride on S:UF, as the line is always too long for me to be bothered to wait. Walked right on in front row. So fun. Glad I did it. Marathoned Nitro 5 times in a row right before closing, sat in last row the last three rides, including the last train of the night. Now only if they would do this event more often! El Toro 2x Bizarro 3x Superman 1x Nitro 5x
