GAcoaster, have you heard anything about the new premium season passes? It includes free parking to all parks, early entry, free water park, etc. I'm sure it will STILL be cheaper than other parks.

-__- So pessimistic. The vehicles are more or less the same as Animal Kingdom's vehicles.
-
If I recall correctly, didn't they go on sale last year after the announcement, with the buy 4, get a free parking pass offer.
-
^That is the main reason I am questioning why they sent out a press release with ten days left until the announcement. People are also complaining about why they have to wait until August 30th to learn more. I'm thinking maybe there intentions were to get people excited, but clearly that plan backfired. They would be better off coming out and saying that they are transforming the safari with more details going to be released in the next couple of weeks. Now that would get people excited.

I guess we will have to look at the safari from bizarro now.
The safari isn't closing though...? You will still be able to go through it. It will just have a different entrance.
-
I think the park made a mistake by handling the announcement of the drive through aspect of the safari coming to an end... They should have just said it when they made the announcement next Thursday.
-
I heard it would be announced September 1st with the release of the new Fright Fest website, like they did last year.
-
Glad to see the park making use of previously unused areas! Although I'm kind of wondering what Voodoo Island has to do with Bone Butcher Terrortory.
-
Anyone know where the Voodoo Island Terror Trail is? For some reason I'm thinking it is in the basin of Congo Rapids.
-
I think your saying "it will suck" is a little premature given that none of the details (or even a confirmation) of what is going to happen have been announced. I suggest we wait until August 30th before forming opinions.
Your whole post was the point I was trying to mak, but what I quoted is especially what I was trying to say. I think the park is taking a huge risk and I'm really looking forward to see everything they have planned with this. I mean, making an upcharge into something free is a HUGE risk to take. The rumors say that there will be water falls, rocky terrain, and other special effects to enhance the story. I have also even heard rumors about different activities such as ATVing and a zipeline course. This has been something that's been in plans for a few years now and Fitzgerald is really invested in this project. I trust a lot of the decisions he has made in his short time as park president.
-
Yeah.... I think you blew that way out of proportion... So out of proportion... The safari will be a dry park attraction now and it will be free. It is going to be a lot better than it currently is. Just wait until the official announcement before you complain about it, that is a major gripe I have.

I've been hearing a lot of talk about not alowing anyone to drive through the safari and making them ride some type of tram or bus through it. I really really hope this never happens. This is one of the things that makes Great Adventure unique. I have always enjoyed driving through all the animals on the largest drive through safari outside of Africa.
John Fitzgerald confirmed it to a person of gadv.com
I'm sure if you ask him, he will tell you.

GAdv isn't doing the drop tower in 2013, from what I've heard. They are redoing the safari and making it a park ride.
-
I'm assuming that the ground queue's are to help Flash Pass people flow in better. Can anyone confirm that?
-
If the manufacturer hasn't completed it yet, or it has been delayed in shipping. For something like this, it has to be shipped in containers from Europe and anything can happen to delay it.
I thought Bertazzon was making Fender Benders. Aren't the a US based company?
-
^
Seriously, I hate it when people complain about something before they've even seen it in person. How the hell do you theme a 242 ft. tower anyways.
-
The colors are the colors of the flags in the Six Flags logo. Stop complaining about something you have yet to actually see in person and ride.
-
The press release that you guys got the other day still called it a "musical themed scrambler called Deja Vu", didn't it?
-
^I believe it is a relocated Scrambler from a closed Six Flags park. From my understanding it will feature old Great Adventure logos. Since it's name is Deja Vu I assume it will be rockin' hit music from the 70's (when GAdv opened) through today's hits.

Seems like a great season! (:
Seriously? The shows are the same as last year basically. I don't see how it will be a great season in terms of entertainment, which is what the thread is about. I personally find these disappointing.
-
I can't think of any water attraction thats an upcharge except for the crazy aqua fighter thing Wet n' Wild had but got rid of. Even flow riders are free at most parks, including the SF parks that have them.

The list of the free/discounted season pass tickets is up on the website now: http://www.sixflags....svaluebook.aspx
Don't forget that this season there will be no physical passholder books so if you want to get the coupons or free tickets you'll have to register your email when you process the pass. For those who already processed passes, you may have to get replacement passes in the spring because of the new turnstile system (assuming it's still happening). There was some confusion at the end of last season as to whether the pass cards issued would still work or not.
They said last year that the coupon booklets would no longer be distributed and yet their site says:
Yeah. They ran into some problems with the online distribution so it won't be up in time for 2012. I believe the same can be said about the new turnstiles as well.

I have to admit, I have heard the same exact rumor.
