Doesn't seem very new.

I walked into Granny's today, and the weird odor was gone! Now I might actually get to eat there!
-
I noticed the ribs were missing, too. So sad.... hopefully they'll be back.
A question about food - is Great Character Cafe any good? I know they have burgers, but are they better than Johnny Rockets?
-
I like the cool lights in those tunnels! Here's hoping our next coaster will have cool tunnels.

It's primer. I saw some specs of yellow on the turnaround while I was at the park.

While I in no way mean to suggest the new entrance is as magical as the old one, I do believe driving into Great Adventure is still a magical, happy entrance.
Kings Island's parking lot has no seperation from the highway and roads its near. It's just there. For Great Adventure, you drive through the trees and first see the colorful slides of Hurricane Harbor, and then you see the well-themed signs pointing the way to Hurricane Harbor and Wild Safari. Then, the trees part and you can see Kingda Ka. It's more epic than magic, but it still has a stunning effect. Then, you can see basically all the coasters. I think it's one of the most dynamic coaster-showing entrances of any theme park, only falling short of Cedar Point.

29years and GACoaster, I have a question.
During your Winter Tour of the park, you had pictures of framework for "Six Flags Media". I think your picture was in Movietown. I didn't get to go into Movietown on Opening Day, but were they still there? And what are they? Are they TVs, or billboards?

I'd love to see an Antique Cars ride snaking around in the woods near The Great Lake Bandstand / Skull Mountain in that empty, bleak, depressing area. It could still be quiet, but just have a family ride that people would enjoy in the area as well as some lights. The Antique Car rides are such fun rides, and Great Adventure has been lacking them for too long.
The same goes for a Waveswinger and Bumper Cars.
I'd love to see a Sky Screameresque ride added into the park somewhere, as well as one of those Xtreme Screamin' Swing rides like Cedar Point has.

This is amazing! It's great to see how much you love this park!
I've always thought a Sky Cabin would be a good idea at the end of Main Street; either that, or a Sky Screamer with a clock on top, so it could be called "The Main Street Clock Tower".

Not a Windseeker, a Sky Screamer. Those look so much scarier and so much more fun.

Wow, when I read the title of the thread I thought they were already announcing a coaster for next year.
-
I suppose they have to stretch it this year... Dorney is already the smallest of the Tri-State-Three, and this year they have to compete with a new roller coaster where you.... (gasp) STAND UP!, and a full-fledged resort that has hotels, camping grounds, and a chocolate factory. Three separate parks, as misleading as it may be, sounds better than little-old Dorney.
Perhaps we should start advertising as 11 parks, one for each of our themed sections.... and Wild Safari, and Hurricane Harbor, and maybe the Parking Lot, too.

Interesting to hear about the moving sidewalk for Ultra Twister .... kind of like a predecessor for Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit!
Another great spotlight, thanks again as usual! And just think - only one more "Spotlight on the Sixes" until the park opens!

This is still ridiculous. Honestly. The rides that have rooms for cubbies SHOULD have them, and the ones that don't should have free lockers. Superman, Nitro, and Batman just to name a few have plenty of room for cubbies, and Green Lantern should be built with room. The park can pretend its a liability issue, but we all know it's mainly about making that extra money -- I mean, if it wasn't, they'd let the lockers last longer.

OMG! Do you have Six Flags-opoly? I saw and bought Cedar Point-opoly last season and was wishing Great Adventure would make a board game ... wow, that's cool. Any pics of it, per chance?
-
I think an Inception-themed ride would be epic. I think it'll be a long lasting movie, like The Dark Knight.
-
^ Yeah, but it's pretty damn close to impossible. It's deceiving how hard it is -- just like the basketball game. The hoops are ovals. It's possible to win, but if one doesn't know its an oval, then it's hard to win. It's not a scam to us, but it is to the GP.

QUOTE(bvfcfirefighter @ Mar 9 2011, 11:59 PM) 2 things really grind my gears :
1: When people ask the SAME QUESTION OVER AND OVER again. I go on the Six Flags Great Adventure Facebook Page quite often, and every time I see at least 2 or 3 people asking either A: When is it opening or B: When is Green Lantern going to be open. Then I scroll down a little bit to find BOTH questions ANSWERED many times.
2: When people put the word "the" in front of coaster names like "the Nitro" or "the Kingda Ka" or "the El Toro". It annoys the crap out of me.
The The Bull.....
What annoys me is when people think Rolling Thunder is Batman and Superman -- no kidding.
I also hate all the trash in the parking lot -- but that's also partly GADV's fault. There needs to be a lot more trashcans in the parking lot, and more spread out. If they did this, there would be less trash. Hopefully they add more trashcans when they redo the whole parking lot next season. (BTW -- they never actually said they were redoing it, just wishful thinking)

I hope they re-open the path. The park's layout is bad enough as it is, but I'm sure they'll eventually open it again. That path really was beautiful, and there was a lot of good theming along the path, like the hidden temple and the bicycle in the jungle.
Some theming was added to SFMM over the winter, so maybe we'll see some new theming in the park....
-
Carnegie was really good -- hopefully the quality of the food stays the same. Of all the brands to get rid of, I wish they'd gotten rid of Cold Stone or Ben and Jerry's.
-
At the bottom of the park map there is a tram, is this actually going to be there?! If it is thats a so great. No more walking to the car at 10:45 any more!
That tram's been on the map for years. It's no more likely to be here this year than it was last year or the year before that.

I think this is good because this means less branding in the park. This company, unlike Papa John's, doesn't have to have their name all over everything. These restaurants are getting names that fit the theme of their respective sections, which I think is good, albeit they are a bit general.
The Green Lantern
in The Park Today

Green Lantern's coming along great theming-wise!
While I was at the park yesterday, worker crews added some decals to the station. Rutted roof panels are being added to the roof of the station, and signage was hung on both sides of the station with the Ferris (aviation company in the Green Lantern movie) logo and the motto "Where courage takes flight".
Also, some theming was added along the queue. The security guard allowed me to take a few photos over the construction fence:
This box of theming was closed in the photos uploaded to Facebook earlier this week, it's open now. There's still theming inside waiting to be placed on the station or along the track. It looks like some human figures are inside the box, but it's hard to tell.
This picture doesn't capture much, but you can see the side of the entrance way. The green lantern battery or whatever it's called has been mounted on top of the podium in the center of the logo on the ground. It looks like a light will go in the center that will light up at night.
Speaking of which, almost the entire track was lit up tonight. It looked amazing.
Interestingly enough, the little path area where the red machine is was where the band was playing on GASM's final night.
Here, not only can you see the ride testing and the open box-o-theming, but you can also see an airplane prop that has been placed along the queue. It has a runway painted underneath it. It looks really awesome.
Here you can see the sign which I assume will be placed onto the queue house.
Not shown in the pictures is a figurine of Green Lantern that has been placed against the station. The ride was testing all three trains today, and it looked great. The ride looked and sounded smooth, and I can't wait to ride it.
