Additional Operating Days September 3 to 5

Summer fun no longer ends Labor Day weekend. Six Flags Great Adventure has extended its daily operating season through September 5. Additional days include September 3 through 5 from 10:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Fright Fest – Weekends September 13 through October 27

Six Flags Great Adventure’s Fright Fest Presented by SNICKERS® promises the longest run in its 22-year history plus four new attractions at the world’s largest scream park. The event features family-friendly “thrills by day,” while an amped-up “fright by night” will deliver more scare zones, terror trails, and haunted mazes and nearly 200 zombies. Now seven weeks long, Fright Fest begins Friday the 13th of Sept. and runs weekends through Oct. 27 with 25 Halloween-themed shows and attractions.

Hallowedding – September 13

The first night of Fright Fest will include a mass, Halloween-themed wedding ceremony in the park for couples who are looking to tie the knot or renew vows. Newlyweds will be able to celebrate with their guests after the ceremony at a Halloween-themed reception in true “Friday the 13th” style. Couples are required to arrive at Great Adventure for registration at 4:00 p.m. with the ceremony commencing at 6:00 p.m. Space is limited to the first 100 couples, and additional fees apply. Couples can register by calling 732-928-200 ext. 2850 or by emailing NJSpecialEvents@sixflags.com.

Zombie Run – September 14

Chase or be chased: you decide. Human competitors race for their lives in this 5K run by dodging zombies to stay alive. Registering as a zombie puts participants in the shoes of the undead with the goal of hunting down their human prey. More details will be made available at http://www.sixflags.com/greatadventure

The Great Six Flags Triathlon—September 22

Six Flags Great Adventure’s second-annual Triathlon will kick off at 7:15 a.m. on Sunday, September 22. Participants will swim, bike and run through the world’s largest theme park. The triathlon will conclude with breakfast, and participants are invited to stay the whole day as registration includes park entry. See http://www.sixflagstri.com/ for more details.

Wild Safari Run – September 28

The Six Flags Safari will host a 3.1-mile cross country meet sponsored by Powerade and Kelly’s Sports. The race allows high school cross country teams from surrounding states to run through the Safari where competitors will be able to experience the animals like never before. All athletes, coaches and spectators will be offered a discounted price for theme park admission. Space is limited, and registration information can be found http://sixflagswildsafariinv.com/.

Fright Fest Blood Drive – September 28

Six Flags will host the eleventh-annual American Red Cross Blood Drive from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Guests can donate a pint of blood to earn a free ticket to Fright Fest. Reservations must be made by calling 732-928-2000, ext. 2834. Up to 200 donors are needed and will be taken on a first call, first serve basis. I am very happy to see the park open those days during the week after Labor Day. I know not all schools are in session yet but I don't think it will be that crowded. I'm going to try to get there one of those days.

  • 2 weeks later...

Since they are already expanding Labor Day weekend, do you have any idea if they are going to add Halloween and the first weekend in November like SFNE just did? Or would they have to pushback Grape Adventure to do that?

Great Adventure's last day for the theme park this year will be October 27th. Next year Fright Fest will run for 8 weeks and be open for Halloween, closing on November 2nd!
