SFGadv123
Kingda Ka was closed today because they were replacing a part, not because of the new ride. Edited August 30, 2013 by SFGadv123
Yoshi
Rolling Thunder will always have a long wait because dispatch times are so slow. That is yet another reason for its demise. It really seems like it has been worse the last few years with dispatches taking 3 to 5 minutes. I remember in the mid 90s waiting for the left side when the line was just past the tunnel and it was around a 20 minute wait. Now I have waited 15 minutes with a line still in the station. RideOfSteel
Do you know why dispatch times are slow? Is there a reason? As said above, it's mostly the crew that doesn't care (although the operators were awesome last weekend). But also it is because the trains are in bad shape. I've seen it where the other train is back before they are finished unlocking all the lap bars. The trains are also very low, so the operators have to squat down much further to check then on the other coasters. The old skids also slow down loading. Instead of having the second train parked a couple feet behind the first one, like on newer coasters, Rolling Thunder's trains stop far down the brake run. Then, they also need to fully stop the train right outside of the station before letting it unload. This takes time.
sixflagsdude101
i kinda am totally over rolling thunder leaving. I mean i am alittle sad to see it go but the more i think of Zumanjaro and whats to come in 2015 is making me not care about it anymore. SFGadv123
Yeah, you know, I only went on it twice this year, and I was upset yesterday about it, but now I'm fine. I'll give the new ride a try, I don't really think I'll like it, but I'll try it.
sixflagsdude101
well i am terrified of drop towers i dont know why but they just scare me. but i will be willing totry this one.... with my eyes closed!

Keithvlad2002
Kingda Ka was closed today because they were replacing a part, not because of the new ride. Yep! They were replacing the steel cable in the launch catapult.

Keithvlad2002
I'm not too sure. I'll be working Hurricane Harbor the next 3 days so I won't be there to see, but if I hear something, I'll let you all know.
SFGadv123
Also, do you know if KK will close this year sometime to start working on the drop tower?
Keithvlad2002
From what I understand, it will start in the off-season. ALSO, as far as the lines for Zumanjaro, supposedly they are going to split the Queue line at Kingda Ka towards the beginning of the queue so it will be minimal construction for the new lines. sixflagsdude101
maybe they will do a kingda ka paint job!?
SFGadv123
That would be nice, although I think there are other rides that need it more than Kingda Ka.
Keithvlad2002
maybe they will do a kingda ka paint job!? Being that the new posts that they are preparing to install to accommodate zumanjaro are green just like ka, I highly doubt it.

Railer
Any concept shots of the new que, and Baboon area? They have to have something drawn up. I love B&M coasters, but we do need a little variety. My vote is still for a Euro-Fighter style ride in Chillers old spot. Only kind of coaster that could fit. Either a verticle lift, or a launch, or both. Edited August 31, 2013 by Railer
sixflagsdude101
well you never know if a coaster could fit there maybe it could start in the chillers area and work its way up to the picnic areas?
SFGadv123
I think they would put a small coaster in there. I am not sure if a large one would fit.
sixflagsdude101
thats why i am worried we will get a tiny, overrated x flight.
SFGadv123
Will a coaster like x flight fit in the area the chiller was in?
Railer
I mean you could have a B&M using Chillers station as a new station for a wing, or any style B&M, and have the ride over Movietown and the Old Country. But a euro with a very twisted layout would be the only intense style coaster that would fit in the small area behind the Station.
sixflagsdude101
I would love to see a new GCI in the rolling thunder area though
