29yrswithaGApass
For so many years Hurricane Harbor seemed to be stuck in a rut with no new attractions and little growth, but take a look at what the rapid expansion in recent years has done to the layout of the park. Below is a comparison of the 2000 and 2013 park maps. Very impressive!
Coaster Justin
Is there land left to build? I think only the entrance near the slides has land. Either that or by the First Aid Area.
29yrswithaGApass
Plenty of land left to build!
Yoshi
I didn't know there were only a few slide towers when the park first open. It's good to see so many more slides have been added since then.
29yrswithaGApass
The number of towers has doubled from 4 to 8 and the number of actual slides has gone from 12 to 27.
jdc12192
I wish they would expand and put more slides over to the right side of the park. It just seems so empty over there.
Coaster Justin
Or maybe a giant Lagoon Pool and Super Loop Slides?
The Master
But back in 2000 the park was in better shape with better hours and a longer operating season and no Flashpass causing the standby lines to be artificially longer than they should be. The Hurricane MT slide tower was built in 2001, HH's second years and no new slides until years later with Tornado. Also I agree that HH is pretty lopsided now with 4 Winds by itself and all the other slides being clustered on the other side of the park. HH also needs another set of restrooms installed. Most waterparks have at least 3 sets of restrooms like WWK and Hershey's Boardwalk which are both smaller than HH.
