I didn't know the park charged for this event. I went to Coastermania at cedar point back in early june, and it was Free. And they gave a ton of free stuff in a Coastermania survival box. (tee shirt, pint glass, sweatshirt, strap for glasses) and a free buffet lunch.

I seriously cannot wait until September 6th, the countdown is officially on. Believe it or not, I made my ACE debut at this very same event and let me tell you, I had one of the best times of my life that day and broke many new records on my favorites. In fact, I still remember that day like it was yesterday!! I rode Nitro 9 times (4 times in morning, 5 times at night), El Toro 5 times (all during ERT), Kingda Ka 4 times (one time during the day, 3 times at night), Bizarro (once in afternoon, and at night, so cool and mindblowing) and Batman twice, Skull Mountain, Mine Train, Green Lantern, and Superman once.

I was in the park for 15 hours that day and it was the first time I rode my favorites all during the nighttime session. In my opinion, night rides are the absolute best!!! This year, I plan on breaking my own personal records. It is going to be an epic day and night. Speaking on the same subject, I will be going to my first ACE event of 2014 tomorrow in Connecticut, that will take place at Quassy and Lake Compounce.

Does anyone know who the 2nd group will be there also?

I'm glad that you are coming to Riding of The Bull with ACE, it is such a fun event, you will not be disappointed. The other group that we are sharing the park with is the Fairgrounds group. Their event is called Fairgrounds: Out at Night and they have been doing this the last 10 years.

They are part of the LGBT community, and they were a wonderful group to share the park with. We shared the park with them last year during the night time session after the park closed to the public.

Does anyone know how to get more info about the event. I just purchased 3 tickets for myself and 2 kids and was trying to get an idea about what possible behind the scene tours they have or just any other useful info (where to meet?) etc...

Its going to be our first time at an event like this.

Tks

  • 3 weeks later...

We usually meet in the main entrance plaza of the park, right when you walk in. The first thing you do before signing up for the tours is to get your registration packet, it usually comes in an envelope and contains a lot of important material. After, you can sign up for the behind-the-scenes tours and they are first come, first serve. They fill up quickly. My advice is to arrive as early as possible. Registration begins at 8:30 am.

We are planning to take a break from the park early afternoon and run over to HH for an hour or two. I know they have a shuttle service going back and forth but does anyone know how often it goes back and forth. Tks

I'll might post something later but someone else could probably write something better.

But in the mean time... It was a record turnout...I believe around 375 people.

My kids and I did the opposite that most people did and it seemed to work out, Hit Skull Mountain 1st, 3 times with 2 re-rides with the lights ON, then Nitro 5 times with 4 re-rides, Hit Green Lantern, took the shuttle to the water park for a few hours. Had a nice lunch with the group and after that the park was shuts down for a few hours with a threat of thunderstorms... ERT for El Toro was delays so we hit Bizarro for a few rides. Then hit Zumanjaro and El Toro during the end of ERT. After that was Batman and then the Dark Knight with 3 times with 2 re-rides. Then the rain came again so we left.

Between rides we did walk around a lot and relaxed. Met some really great people and even hung out by my truck outside the park for few minutes while waiting for the threat of storms were past.

See we have gone to the park several times this year (and the years prior) we are rarely there at night. We usually go on Sundays and leave in the afternoon. But it was nice being there at night and was surprised my kids made it from 8:30am to 10:30pm. Even stayed awake on the way home. (but crashed right after that).

Will definitely do it again next year not just for the ERT's but the ACE community is something special.

Only thing we missed was that we did not sign up for any tours. so we will try and get there earlier next time.

Now if my daughter did not have a sweet sixteen party for one of her friends at Adventure Aquarium we would be going to The Casino Pier today with the group.

But I will be at GADV next Saturday and Sunday for the "Bring a friend free" for both my kids...

There needs to be a Great Adventure history window cling that has a place to write your user name so as we aren't avoiding potholes in the parking lot we might see a site member and smile to our self and say "yup, I'll be reading a post form this person when I get home".

I like that idea also... I need 2 though since I usually bring 2 different vehicles. Also would like get a sticker that matched out badge from ACE during the ROTB event.
